There's a scooter entered for SCTA-BNI SpeedWeek -- it has 15" wheels.  Other concerns of SCTA are steering dampers and front axle retention.

Thanks other than the engine, all other parts for this project will be fabricated to meet DLRA,SCTA or BUB rules.

Nicholai... let me amend your statement.. it reads Thanks all of this project will be fabricated to meet DLRA,SCTA and BUB rules
Keep designing, collecting and gathering, that is the first step in building

Cheers Stainless1 thanks!

You might want to check with the organizers, wherever you plan to run.  Motorcycles are required to run minimum of 15" wheels (I haven't checked DLRA).  AMA/Bub let some scooters run last year, but they had to run in "Production" class, I believe.
Tom

was not sure that A scooter had 15 inch wheels.

Good advice - you see a piece you can use, grab it.  I had the factory hardtop for the Midget years before I had a car to bolt it to.

And do keep an eye on the rule changes - Streamliner special construction bikes were almost all but outlawed last winter - Thanks to a few aware builders, they wound up getting the rule rescinded - at least for the time being.

Hi All

Well like all good projects this one has to start some where, so the first project is building a test rig to run my 175 engine in.

picked this up for free from a friend, was an Electric scooter, but its not to badly made, and will do what i need.

I don't want to throw a monkey wrench into your gears, especially as I don't have a DLRA nor a SCTA rulebook available.  But AMA/BUB specify the following for motorcycle motors: "All classes are to use motorcycle engines. A motorcycle engine is defined as any motor that was specifically designed for use in a motorcycle."

So the question is, does a scooter qualify as a motorcycle?  There was quite a discussion elsewhere on this forum about the use of mini-bike motors and the general consensus seemed to be that a mini-bike wasn't a motorcycle.  Perhaps your rules are different, or you have already got this clarified.

I would call a Lambretta engine a motorcycle engine
It's what the local road safety regulations call it
So that has you covered for DLRA
So now we have to ask Matt

Thanks for calling in Nicholai, enjoyed catching up with you and Ray at Ross's and at Belinda's and mine.

I have no doubt you have the skills to put together a well thought out and constructed machine looking at you and your friends current and past projects.

Looking forward to watching your build and keeping in touch.

Cheers
