Help my Dad get to Bonneville!
« on: May 08, 2013, 04:10:49 PM »
Hi everyone my name is Ryan. My Dad is currently building a Bonneville car forv the H/BFS class. He is making good progress on it but is stuggling to come up with the money to finish it. He would love to have it ready by August for Speed Week. I'm doing everything I can to help him so I set up a fundraising web page for him. Please take a look at the page, donate if you can and let other people know about it. We are very grateful for any help. Thanks!

Funny, Brad has not mentioned running low on funds on his Face Bokk page. He plans to be at El Mirage in less than two weeks with a painted body, etc.

I wish you all the luck in the world with your fund-raising, but damn...
That frame, motor, RacePak, etc... Looks like he's doing okay.

He's only going to be able to put the car through tech inspection at el mirage. It won't be ready to run.

Thanks. The main reason the car is at this point is because of his fabrication skills and all the help he recieves from his friends with money and parts. So far so good but as I'm sure you know, this is a money pit of a hobby

Like some others in the past they have to wait a year to finish the project. There are many racers(lots) working on a budget. It's a nice build.

Hell, EVERY racer is on a budget!  I don`t know anyone who finished a project and said they had money left over...

Good on ya for trying to help him along, wish I could have built something with my Dad.
I thought I would die young, but now its too late.

Hey....Call me a "Hard Ass"......but why should I send dollars to your Dad's project......if it is a "outstanding" effort, then go out there and find sponsors....product sponsors....put their name on the vehicle, so they get a return......and if you don't have the monies to finish the project, you should have thought about that before starting it.......But begging for dollars to go racing is not the way to go.......racing cost lots of monies, and product sponsor certainly are very helpful, but if you can't afford racing .....maybe you should find a cheaper sport..................................

PS. In over 55 years of racing all of it came mostly out of my own pocket......Yes, sponsors helped and certainly without their help......I might have taken up tennis........................................................

Bob Bak... I can't play tennis either so I spent most of my money on racing, women and booze.... the rest of it I wasted

Ryan, Good luck with the fund raiser, but I gotta tell ya asking other racers to help fund the project is like going to church and asking if you can have the proceeds from the collection plate to go party...
don't want to be a stick in the mud but hey if you get way more than you wanted I can send you my paypal address,   I'm just an old retired guy living on a fixed income that's had salt fever for the last 40 years.

About $4,000 in parts, plus my labor.

Rayn, Just in case you haven't noticed, this is the wrong group for a newbie, or any one for that matter, to come begging money from. Although I'm sure there are some affluent folks here, the majority scratch, pinch, swap, barter, and plan long and hard for parts/monies for their projects. We will; give free advice, free critizism(sp) (constructive or otherwise), guidance on brew, food, fuel and comment on most any subject. If these folks were to hand out cash, my wife's LSR camaro would be running 200mph and I would not have a 5 year plan to get her to a piont where she can acheive her goal.
