Motorcycle Streamliners at the Shootout
« on: April 29, 2013, 10:56:42 AM »

The Mike Cook Shootout this year should be something to see.  Got a question.

Will Angelic Bulldog, Lucky Seven, gas turbine being built in Rob North's shop in San Diego, jet liner, or EZ-Hook be there?

I know for sure Ack Attack and Black Lightning will be there.  Are there any others hiding out there that we might look forward to seeing?

Time's getting short 128 days before we load up.  Stainless will be hauling my Vincent streamliner, and I'll be hauling his little car to the WOS.  Black Lightning will all of her gear, needs the dualy.  My F150 can handle the little car, no problem.

See all you guys on the salt.

If the conditions are good, this may be the year to be there. I have to hold down the fort during SW, however I may just sneak out there for the Shootout.

In conjunction with the Shootout, Black Lightning will also be attending the World of Speed.  Don Angel will take on the riding chores at the WOS, and Hartmut Weidelich from Germany will go for the FIM at the Shootout.  Class is streamliner side car blown fuel, 3000cc.  Last week I sent off for the WOS entry forms.  They arrived yesterday.  In going through the brochure, I read, "2009--Chris Carr, current motorcycle LSR at 367.382 mph..."--???

Whilst none of the British streamliners will be at the Shootout 2013 :-(, all three that are built or in build will be on display during the Goodwood Festival of Speed event in two weeks time alongside the fasest ever UK bike - the Gillette Mach3 Challenger rocket bike (332.877 mph one way).

Jet Reaction is completed and making test runs controlled by Richard Brown whenever the UK weather co-operates and airfields are available, but funding will be needed for the trip to the salt in 2014; Angelic Bulldog is getting parts completed to enable assembly to continue under the management of Gabriel Uttley, but funds will be needed for a trip to either USA or to South Africa; The 52 Express is in the UK and is being clothed in its skin (over the gas turbine) and Alex Macfadzean and Robin Richardson are seeking the funding for a trip to the USA or to South Africa.

There is a common theme of the lack of funding brought about by the financial crisis and recession(s) that the UK suffered.

Perhaps the BBC can be persuaded to fund a shipping container to take them all to Bonneville??

I have a feeling that each project has already arranged documentary production with other TV organisations.

Hahahahahahhahahahaha! You have NO idea how much work it was just to persuade the BBC to come last year... the thought of them actually spending tax payers money to help race teams to the Salt is superb. But sadly never ever ever going to happen.

We're hoping to secure the final $$$ we need to bring the Flower to the Shootout this year, but I keep emailing Mike and use the website contact form to no avail... given I'm hoping to have the BBC crew along with me again I'd have thought it might make good publicity for one and all. But guessing we're too small and too slow.
