Thanks for posting all the pics guys! I know I had a great time working the starting line. The weather did clear late, we dried the track again...And had a quite a few more cars and bikes make 3 to 4 passes each! Alot of folks had already left, so even the cars were hot lapping  :-)

Shoot!  I loaded the trailer in the pouring rain at 12:30, thinking we were done and headed home.

Thanks guys for posting this Ohio Mile event. How did the 1953 Hemi Stude do?  It looks wild.We won't be able to make Ohio this year the car is going through a rebuild and redesign.  Our plans are to make Speed Week with it.

You have done a good job of keeping us informed.

Hooley, they went 202 or 203 and change last run!  To say they were ecstatic is an understatement!  :-o

Somebody said one of the bikes went 241 but I only heard a car went 229 and a bike 223 on Saturday. They tried a new broadcast and speed display system but had some issues so did not get it all at the time. It will be killer when it gets debugged! Also using a bar code tag and working to get on-line registration up and running. Your time slip now tells you if you set a record, too! The ECTA crew is working hard to make this a premier LSR event!

June can't just get here fast enough!  :-D

As I understand, he was fine. Most of the delay later was getting the fire truck unstuck though!

Gary thanks for posting the Video of my exciting ride.
Over the winter we worked on a few areas to help gain some more MPH the canopy is the biggest visual change. Also new for this year is a new cast in 1988 Iron XF class flathead V-8 block. Since this was my first run with all the new changes I stuck to my plan of going easy on the run. During the pass I noticed how much better I could hear the motor with the now enclosed driver compartment everything during the run felt fine.
But coming to the finish line I made the big mistake of looking at the oil pressure gauge! It was reading ZERO that took my attention away from what I should have been doing which was maintaining control and pulling the parachute lever. With my mind thinking about no oil pressure on a new motor what I did was shift the car into what I thought was neutral but turned out to be second gear so the downshifted transmission locked up the rear tires at the now new record speed of 171.89 MPH.
The car and driver both checked out fine. With the help of a lot of friends I was able to check the car completely plus clean her up a bit. The oil pressure problem was caused by the wire on the sending unit pulling out of the terminal eye. I was able to make a second pass latter in the afternoon. The second run was into a very strong head wind this time I pulled the motor a bit harder the speed crossing the line was 170.97 MPH
I'm very happy with the result but mad at myself for holding up the event until the rescue truck was pulled out of the mud. All of the safety equipment worked perfectly and it looks like we built a pretty tough little car.

Ron,
Congratulations on the new record.
I am glad the the spin didn't cause you any more
serious damage than it did.
We could not have our car ready for the April event,
but are planning on being at the next ECTA event in
Ohio.
Regards

Tman, how long do you think it takes a fire truck to start, accelerate from a stop and drive nearly a half mile?  This fire safety crew is some of the best I have seen at land speed and drag venues.

The Caddy – that’s not a car – that’s a weapon.

Chris, I didn't open my ECTA poster until this morning and I immediately thought of your weapon comment!..... :-D

Cool that Sean's Big Bad Black Cad is on the poster this year.
