Next contribution to our 2013 season, ran 5th again making the PASSCAR final Scoreboard at Perris Speedway. Had some gremlins in the heat race which showed up as a dead spot hitting the throttle coming off turns 2 and 4. Checked everything we could think of including both fuel filters and the filter on the vent to the tank. Only change I made was to increase the pressure to the carb to 7.5.
Went to the ignition next and found nothing we say was the problem. Cleaned a few connections, weights were free in the distributor everything looked good.
We were the first main event and the call came qwik, I was helping buckle Patrick in the car ready to put up the net when he told his son Tyler to reach in the other window and take out the 8000 rev limiter chip out of the 6AL box. He started the engine, I guided him back, up to the starting area as they were rolling, and onto the track. He starting at the back because of the poor heat race; 2 yellow flag laps, bunch up, stab it coming off turn 4 and we were under way.
The engine never missed a beat, he was hammering the h--l out of it down the front and backstretch. For him, made a lot progress on his taking of the corners (this is a seat time deal and he needs seat time) ran down some guys, caught them on the straight, made it stick low and passed them on the next straight. 1st caution came out on lap 19, got they the guy off the track, green-white-checkered and he was 5th.
I thought it was best he had ever driven, no yellows and no time to think, just go and go now. Another 10 years and he may get good at this.
Next race is at the old Orange Show Fairgrounds in San Berdo in 2 weeks. It's returned to dirt. Big show for West Coast Super/Street Stocks and he wants to run and have some fun. A lot of guys coming from central Cali for this one and we have a hard time against these guys..........JD

First time for "stock" cars on dirt at Orange Show Fairgrounds" since 1963. Patrick ran 5th in the main after qwik repairs we made to the front bumper behind the grille from 7th lap tangle with one of the "hot shoes" in our heat race. He didn't make the main and we did. Biggest payday of Patricks short new lifestyle. $175 at the window. We both had on our 2 club tee shirts. (By chance) Unlimited sprinters put on one hell of a show for 30 laps. No wings......won't race again until August.........JD

With 5 races still to go in the 2013 season for Tone Motorsports a new car for the 2014 season has been purchsed. We will be converting it to the new #49 over the winter to run in the 2014 season. We bought it without an engine, trans, or rear gear.

Picture is how it started it's 2013 season for the current owner who is stepping up to a alcohol modified now that we have purchased it. We will pick it up the week after Bonneville in Central California..It was original constructed as Limited Late Model and converted to West Coast Street Stock rules. . . . . . . See you all at Bonneville...........JD
