The other car 49
« on: April 21, 2013, 01:52:46 PM »
After a year off to build a new engine the other Car #49 with the Bent-V8, it trophied at Perris Auto Speedway in So Cal. 2 weeks ago testing was done at Oildale near Bakersfield where Patrick placed 10 out of 12. Taking it easy all night.

Last night a 2nd place finish with a little racing luck at our home track of Perris Ca. 15 starters and we were 12th on the grid. After 5 we were 5th, after 10 we restated a yellow flag sitting 2nd. Race was called  at 12 laps on time. We crossed the finish line 4th with 8-9 cars running. 1st and 3rd were booted for roller cams and were were moved to 2nd......Great night For Patrick Tone. Roch Courrages, and a very proud dad. (great engine assemby)

Congrats to all of you, Jimmy!

Used my new ECO-BOOST to tow to Victorville for a Saturday nite on the 1/3 mile Route 66 Raceway. Had 9 Super Streets show up. Lost the starter before hot laps.....push started the rest of the night. Started 8th on the grid and finished 5th with no yellow flags......massive $60.00 at the payout window.

New Ford averaged 13 mpg for the trip up over the pass. 188 miles. First tow. Acted a lot like my 04 6L diesel. Look us up on Facebook Car 49 in Huntington Beach.

In 2 weeks we will be back at Perris Speedway and in 4 weeks we will be at Orange Show in San Bernadino.

The #49 was the late Bob Higbees number for years, he allowed JD to use it at the lakes and both are SDRC club members. For years at the lakes Bob always made the last run of the meet for club points, later he quit running as the rules required roll bars etc. JD has run the number for several years now with pride.
BTW tell Pat I said GOOD JOB.

Tman. there is only one...3.5 L twin turbo. rated 365 HP @ 5000 RPM-- 420 Torque @ 2500 RPM.

Ordered the Max-Tow package, includes: big mirrors, 3.73 gears, big trans cooler, and other stuff  tows 11,400#.

Crewcab, 6.5 bed, XLT Bucket seats.  Turbos are small, no noticable spool up time, will smoke the tires. Just reached 1500 miles so I could tow. Has gotton 21 mpg going to San Diego running between 70 and 75. Love the backup camera located in the tailgate Ford emblem....Another report will be in 2 weeks......JD.

PA: I love LSR but this is a lot more fun and we've met a lot of great guys and many ask about the "Red Hat"......
