Boots for the BUB ruling
« on: April 15, 2013, 11:24:50 PM »

These boots will fit under the pant leg of the leathers. I was wondering if they would be legal for the BUB.
Dainese makes some of the best stuff in the biz and I feel totally confident in them but they may not meet the letter of the law.

Thank you,

The AMA rules don't specify that the boots have to be inside or outside the pants leg. I think they would be fine. Here is a quote:

"Leather boots of significant construction are required. They
shall be at least 8-inches high with lace, zipper, and/or
buckle, or specially designed and constructed for leg and
foot protection."

Any other opinions?

My boots are similar to those and I wear the leathers over them.  No problems with tech.

You nailed it - plain & simple Don
Like Woblywalrus, my leathers fit over the top of my boots also. I do kinda like it that way.

Still getting ready

Yeah, but --  think of the exposed ends of the leathers flopping around in the breeze at speed.  I wear my leathers tucked into the boots -- and then tape the top of the boots around the legs of the leathers to seal 'em and prevent ballooning.

Hey -- in this game every little bit helps, remember.  You're not in it for a fashion award -- you're trying to get each and every bit of speed you can.  Go for function over form. :-D

I use tape also, after covering the top of the boot with the  leather, makes a nice seal.

Thanks for all the input. When my leathers arrived yesterday (thank you Adolph at Z's they look way bitchin') the legs were a little bigger around than I thought they would be so I can use more of a conventional boot underneath. The Dainese boots I was looking at are more for skinny leg leathers opposed to dragrace style pant legs.

It looks like I have better aero with the leathers tucked into the boots.  I will try this when I race at BUB.
