Is there a class that a dwarf car would fit in.
« on: April 03, 2013, 09:19:18 PM »
Assume that the chassis was built to meet scta rules for the speed it will run? What class would it run in?

Below is a picture of the type of car i'm asking about. (Not mine)

Bruce Harmon ran one with a stretched nose as a lakester I think.  Build diary in here somewhere.  Otherwise my guess is no....
Remember you can't build for the speed it will run, you have to build for the speed in the class you enter.  The exception would be if you run time only, then you are usually given a speed limit.  I would consult the tech chair to ensure you don't spend a pile of money on something you can't run

Would a Dwarf Car only run to the two?
Come to think of it, that might be something I could consistently make..........................

I don't think he ran a build diary as such, but he did ask a lot of questions during the build. He ran the car as a lakester.

You could go into the membership list on the board and send him a PM or an e-mail from there. The only place I think I ever saw photos was in the E-Bay ad. The car looked pretty tidy.

I've got pictures of it on the salt, just no time to look for them  Always take pictures of the cars trying to take one of our records... just in case I need to photoshop a bullseye on it.  Only have one on the wall right now, have pulled a couple down the last couple of years...  :-D  :-D

If it's not designed off of a production style body, i.e. production style dimensions either,
you should be able to run it as a Lakester. Bruce's stretched Legends car is a good example,
as is the McBearen car Dick Bear campaigned for several years at Maxton. Both designs are
influenced by a production car, but it's a one off shrunk down version. The Lakester rules
read something to that effect. Running a hopped up GSXR 1000 or ZX-14 motor, those little
things will SCOOT. I'd have to think that geared right, it would run 200.

Why would one want to run a drawf car in a straight line? They are designed to run on short courses. Running for a mile at El Mirage is like doing four laps at Ventura. Take it to the Indy 500 and see if you can enter there, ask them for a class.

To paraphrase my dear friend JD - just because you have it doesn't mean we have to make a class for it.

Jeez DW, not take your meds this morning. I did not see anyone say anything about making a class for what ever. a simple question was asked. Believe it or not, not everone has "the rule book"

After 50 years of experience the "Is there a class for ..." question soon turns into the "They need a class for ..." statement.

Just saying,
