Ford 170-200 inline 6 Racemotor
« on: March 22, 2013, 02:25:19 PM »
Here is a rather unique motor for sale. This motor ran when taken out of the boat. Could have been run in a 3 liter class hydroplane, but really don't know. It is equipped with Algon injectors and pump, and a Joe Hunt magneto. This motor has an interesting head on it and I don't know if it has been heavily modified or is an aftermarket head, as it has 6 intake and 6 exhaust ports. I don't know much else about the motor as I bought it 15 years ago at a swap meet. My loss is your gain, $1750, located by Portland, Oregon.

Could be a modified Aussie 2V head perhaps?

The exhaust ports will be under the intakes.

I'm wondering if it's an American head with the intake manifold cut off.  They used to cast those heads with the manifold all at once, one piece, to save the cost of bolts and gaskets.

I remember seeing a 200 CI Maverick racing once at Mid America down in Wentzville a number of years back, where the builder had welded up a pair of flanges to the stock log manifold and ran a dual carb setup.

Not to take away from Desotoman's original thread for Marlos engine for sale...

Boy you set me a task there PJ,

This is the best I can find. In the all out hipo rebuilds a divider was installed to seperate the center siamesed ports.

Lots were cut off and plates welded on here too Chris but these are a totally different casting. Those original log manifolds really strangled the engine.

To install a US valve cover requires relieving for it to clear the port runners and seal correctly. From the factory the 250CID 2V was 170hp.

Obviously, this head is upside down.

The intakes looked really good but it looks like they may be offset by rather small exhausts.   :x

The exhaust ports on the 2V-250 head are actually the same size as a 4V-302 Windsor. The intake ports are just really big.
I ran a turbo'd 2V-250 on the street back in the 80's, it was a V8 stomping bitch.
Take a good look at your head, you'll see if it's a welded on adaptor or an original casting piece.

A lot of interest, but no one has stepped up with the cash.
