Rob, here is what we did on the Lakester. the hinge is used as the stop to hold the canopy open.

edit... well it did it again, the pics look ok on the computer, and are rotated when I post...  :?

Are we allowed to do a sideways opening canopy? These are very common in the aircraft world.

I found a few more for you to look at. Not the best pictures but maybe you can get ideas.

Trying to add more pictures but site say's I've already posted. I've reworded the post and changed the file name of the pictures. Irritating after finding the pictures and leaving text 3 times now.

Here's an aside from the topic - but worth a try next time you get that "this photo is already posted" message.  It hasn't happened to me since - last night.

What I do when I see it is to go back to the page where I was composing the text part of the post and then click copy - to get the text.  Then clear out of the page and spend your time relabeling the photos, and, when done with that, start a new post reply page.  Put the cursor in the text blank and click "paste" -- and there it is again, and you didn't have to type the whole thing over.

I finally figured it out (even though it's pretty basic stuff) after realising that when I'd re-type the text - my thoughts and comments weren't nearly as cute and cogent as in the first try.  Okay - now you give it a try.
