Couple of questions
« on: February 27, 2013, 06:53:16 PM »
Running F/PRO in April. Rulebook (5.E) states that "All entrants running in Production classes must have pictures of the car as produced with their log book for certification purposes." Just a little confused about the pictures--are they supposed to be photos of my exact vehicle, or just photos of what the car model is supposed to look like in stock condition? What do people normally produce in tech as far as photos are concerned?

Second question: In 2.G, the book states, "No closed end (Acorn type) lug nuts are allowed." Is the important point here that only open-end lug nuts can be used? The reason I ask is that there are actually open-end acorn lug nuts out there (or at least what people call "open-end acorn lug nuts"). I guess what I'm asking is that assuming I adhere to all the other lug-nut specs (i.e., 5/8 in. stud threads in the nut, size of the lug-nut hex, etc.), will I be okay as long as I run open-end lug nuts?

Thanks!

Gary

For our production-class bike -- I've supplied factory printed sales literature and the factory's shop manual.  The key word in your question answers it -- "...must have pictures of the car as produced...".  So you'll want to dig around and find some photos that are of the car when it rolled off the production line (so to speak), and you might consider having some way to verify the pictures.

Reply 1 - A representitive (sp) set of photos of the car in question, one front 3/4 view, one full side view and on rear 3/4 view should surfice. The photos that rep my wifes car ('91 camaro) I got off the web. Not even our car but same year make and model.

reply 2, the open lug nut allows the inspector to verify minimum thread engagement. 5/8" I beleive.

Frank. Ps. always read da book again. We've beeen doing this for 7 yrs and I still "refreash"

Add  Pre- modifacation ie.original, stock appearance.

While I am not an ECTA person the photo rule you refer to came(and is worded) the same as the SCTA-BNI rulebook. The photo rule means the OEM car before modification. We know what the car currently looks like sitting in front of us.
