SCTA number
« on: February 22, 2013, 04:13:25 PM »
I wonder if one of you could answer a question about the vehicle numbers for the SCTA?

How do you get one?

I have been looking over the expired list I got in the mail the other day and found a couple I wouldn't mind getting for future use if they are allowed to expire. My land speed project is in the early planning stages (not sure about engine size or for that matter what class it will end up in) but if I could, it would be nice to get a number that means something to me for personal reasons.

Look in section 16 of your rulebook. Chuck Kalbach is listed as the number guy, he will glad to help you out. Also rule 2.L tells you how to obtain a number.

Good luck,

Thanks DW

I just didn't know if you had to have a car to assign the number to or I could get one now for future use. Also, I really hated to bother Chuck right now as he is dealing with the expired number list and probably has enough to do without answering my dumb questions.

If I needed a special number, birthday(add up all the crew and get an average), anniversary, AJ Foyt, etc. I would reserve now. If you don't use it in 3 years it goes into the pot.

If the number is special to you, contact the owner and see if he will release it to you.  We had a request for one of our numbers several years ago, it was a number we used for switching classes.  Gladly gave it up after hearing the request... most of us will give up an extra, just ask.
No, won't give up 1000, had it for 35 years and used it except during the rainouts.

The new expired numbers list is out.  Earliest I recall seeing it.
