Speaking of the Java-thing - - - did you see the note on the home page?  Bob dug into the Java situation and made some comments, and then I asked him for a bit of interpretation -- and that's posted, too.  Go ahead and read both and decide what you want to do.

I un-disabled Java -- but with the knowledge of what MIGHT happen.  Also, though, I'm taking a chance that things will be okay because I use Apple, not Wintel computers.  And also because I hope that nothing nasty will happen.  How's that for a good line of reasoning?

Sorry guys, won't be in the Java based chat, removed that POS software and it cured the issues I was having with the computer. Lots of other good chat software to choose from. After seeing Rob, Charles, myself and others repeatedly get locked up or booted I am dont with the hassle, the last three weeks were very disappointing.  :-( :x

Trent,

Uninstall your current Java, restart your PC, download and install the current version. Open IE,  go into "Internet options" and delete 100% of your history. Restart again and hopefully you're good to go, or at least way better off.

I still get a few Javascript errors every time I log in but other than that, I'm golden (now).

I've asked Bob to look around for a different chat software package - one that doesn't use Java.  He and I are sorta afraid that we won't find one, so if you know of such a critter -- please let us know.

Bob's words: "I can look.  Something like a chat room (I just have a feeling here) would more than likely need Java, as it's used for interactive stuff.  Want me to look?"  And that's where I said yes.  Then he wrote back with:  "Okeedokee.  This'll be something new."

As it stands - we'll have fewer people on Tuesday evenings. because some are dropping out because they've taken the Java out of their web browser - and therefore can't use the Chat line.

So - we're trying to find something.  Stay tuned, and again -- if you know of a chat that will avoid the Java germs, please get in touch with him or me.  Thanks.
