GMC Fans?
« on: January 08, 2013, 02:14:33 PM »
Kat is put us up for GMC's Fan-of-the-Year on facebook.

We race and drive 3 GMC trucks:

Wendy is Red, 540rwhp, sled-pull winner, 12.50 @ 107 mph
Casper is White, 936rwhp, LSR record holder (A/DT), West Coast drag champ, sled-pull winner. 10.59 @ 130 mph
Blue is ... Blue, is a 3500 Crew Cab Long Bed with heavy tow modifications, 502rwhp, and a sled-pull winner.  13.10 @ 103 mph.

Note that all three are used as heavy duty trucks still.  Casper picked up a 8000lb machine from Missouri, Wendy tows a 28' long enclosed trailer, and Blue has towed up to 14,500lb from Florida and Texas and Kentucky.

If you agree we are GMC lunatics, go to the following link, click on the 4th picture, which is a picture of Red, White, and Blue GMC's, then click LIKE on that picture.

Thanks,

Pat and Kat

My doctor told me to go out and kill people.
Well, sort of.  He told me to reduce the stress in my life.

OOps,

Opened by misteak - thought this thread was about REAL GMCs - like 302s with Wayne 12 port heads.

Real engines don't need spark plugs.

Kinda like needing gasoline to start a campfire.

My first GMC had the V6 truck engine (305?) with the 3-sp manual on the tree.  Split rims (16.5? 17?)), wood bed floor, steel interior.  You could hose it out.

I agree with Dan.......Sorry, but they don't know what a GMC is or in my opinion do they care about it.

"New" Ford guys are the same. Fords has manufactured some unbelieveable engines in their time. SOHC big V-8's, modular 4 cam and 2 cam, etc: but they will always be known for the flathead starting in 1932 and ending in 1953. I'll throw in Chrysler too. They've done a lot especially of late but to me they only built one true engine the 1951 thru 1958 Hemi of all sizes.
First GMC 6 powered Fuel roadster over 200, with 2 red hats. Pit crew for Patrick Tone's Super Stock #49 Camaro

What did you think of the engineering of the GMC 275CI V8 with 310HP/520ftlb?  I think that was perhaps the best engine design of all time.  Big power, light weight, big torque, high MPG, long life.

DW

72° DOHC V8 with the heads on backwards.  Drop in replacement for the LSx family of engines.  The exhaust ports are in the valley.  No intake manifold.  25-70% more efficient than existing light truck/SUV engines.  Engine code LMK went into production in 2008 for 2010 model light trucks.

Sadly, the EPA and the Feds made it go away.  There were thousands of engines ready to go when they pulled the plug.  Tens of millions spent on engineering down the toilet.  It did show up at SEMA (2009?) in a production truck, and dozens of test mules were on the highway.

You CAN get you hands on them.  I was offered one for $3000, they are out there.

And of course they are diesel, like all serious trucks are.

That must have been the engine I was waiting for. I was on board to buy a new Colorado if/when that engine was available. I had read about it in Autoweek.

Yeah, I wanted one too.  Would have traded my 3500 in for one.  It would have been minitruck with a bad attitude.   Bet I could tune one up past 500 HP without touching the mechanicals.
