Licensing Passes
« on: December 14, 2012, 01:46:39 AM »
What are the rules and proceedures for licensing passes for a motorcycle that's never ran on the salt flats yet but has passed tech and is in the M/G 1350cc class? I think the record is close or into the 200's. I don't think we can just go as fast as we want ar can right off the bat? :? Larry

See Section 1.M.   Although the section title is "Driver Licensing", it refers to "driver/rider" throughout.  It's on page 14 of the 2012 rule book.

I just fixed the title of that section in the 2013 rulebook.

About the only thing that I can think of is that your vehicle will be restricted to one of the short courses 'til it has proven it can average 175 in the (old) first quarter of the second mile.  Once the bike (car) has crossed that barrier it is allowed to run the long course.

You may go faster on the short course(s), of course, but only within the limits of your competition license.  The vehicle has only one "license" test to pass -- the 175 in the quarter run.

I think it has to go over 175 in the first quarter of THIRD mile ( 2 and a 1/4) to be allowed onto the long course, Slim.

Record is 200.7 Brenda Sue Carver. Dont forget your " Race" tires. Have to have them in a class with a record over 200mph.

Is there a list of manufactures for "race" tires (motorcycles)?

Not that I know of. I run the Bridgestone bt-003. You can buy a set from Motorcycle Superstore for less than
300 bucks, freight is free.

I didn't go back in the past threads ; but, I'm pretty sure that the tires Fred is talking about are the best ones to go with at 200+ mph.
they are legal in scta events.
it's a good thing to have the tires shaved. the person to do that is Nate Jones. who is in Long Beach , cal., I believe.

Thanks for the licensing information. Our bike might be able to go up to 170? We are shooting for the 150 club. Does this mean we still have get the 200 mph tires?

Nope.

SCTA rulebook classes and records are not related to the 130/150 club in any manner.
