I have both Bell and Simpson Helmets.. Both are top shelf units... I prefer my Simpson Voyager Evolution with Top Air system.  Keeps my melon both safe and cool...  But the helmet is just one part of a well designed safety system... Remember a good seat and or proper lateral movement limiting device and a good HNR for forward movement protection.

Ken, were you thinking of the VW-bodied van?  It was pretty cool but I don't remember the speed.

Creekrat - I suggest you get a rule book (look on the website <ecta-lsr.com> for contact info) and see where the van might fit in the class structure.  I don't remember just where they fit and you might end up running in T/O (time only) which is still fun but there are no records there of course.  Especially if you're interested in the April meet you need to get motel reservations NOW.  Pre-entry opens in January and you'll want to get yours in ASAP as the April meet fills quickly.

Is your Mustang a convert?  If so, you're right that it'll need at least a 4 point (mine has a 6 point Max Motorsports and techs to 150).  If it's a hardtop you can run but cannot exceed 135MPH.  Takes some self-control.

Please read the rule book...we spend so much time writing it!
A 2005 helmet is good until January 1, 2017 and a 2010 will expire on January 1, 2022.

that gives you plenty of time to get a current Snell helmet.
even the year after the test date they can be difficult to find.

lta has the same expiration date  - 1/1/17 .
