Go to the store and buy one.
The speed that you wish to achieve is only limited by the depth of your wallet.

You should get an SA 2010 rated full face whether required or not.  Rules changes.  I had to buy 3 helmets in 5 years due to changes.

SA 2010 aren't available on the shelf in most areas, so you kind of have to guess and use mail order.

Check their return policy first, then buy, and test for fit and fogging.  Fogging is a real problem with SA's without breathers, and for those with 7 3/4+ heads, breather helmets won't fit that I tried.

My doctor told me to go out and kill people.
Well, sort of.  He told me to reduce the stress in my life.

Anyone ever use a Zamp helmet? I need to get one for this spring, and they have nice matte-black SA2010s for $169 at various places online...

True that, just saying the sizing runs a little on the big side. My wife loves hers a lot better than the other brands she had.

I do like the Bell M.4...and that would make my brain worth $379.95... :-)

The best advice is to call Joe.  We had a GREAT seminar on helmets at the last meet and I'm getting a new one.  My Bell is OK but is an "M" and I'm a car guy and that's just one of the issues.  Proper fit is VERY difficult mail order.  Try to find a real shop with a skilled fitter.  Take out the cheek pads and make sure it fits the crown of your head, then tailor the cheek pads as needed.  People have significantly different shaped heads (mine is pretty round) and therefore need a different shaped helmet.

Bell is a great helmet but they tend to make a big shell and fit it inside to your noggin using the padding.  Not a huge deal but it means you have more on your head than you need to.  Some makers actually have different size shells for different ranges of heads.  I'm a Small (not a lot of brains to put in there) and therefore my Bell has a LOT of shell for what I need.

The reason I typed all this is to make the point that it isn't as simple as you might think.  My wife is buying my new one for my Christmas present and we're driving half-way across the state to get properly fitted.

Forgot to add - yes, it must be full face.  It's for fire protection.  In the event of a fire a proper SA helmet will give you more time to get out of the car and the face shield is a part of that.

Thank you, everyone! Joe, I'll be calling you. I've got the itch, and since I can't race my Mustang without a four point, which I don't want to do, I'm thinking my Chevy van could be fun, have not seen one there yet! Who knows, maybe a record!!
See you in April!!

What was that van that ran at Maxton about 4 yrs. ago. The chopped and primered one with nothing but motor in the backseat. What did it run?
