Bud Jones passed away.
« on: November 09, 2012, 10:02:15 PM »
Bud Jones passed away today. Bud first raced at Bonneville in 1952, running a 32 Ford 5 WDW Coupe. He is better know for his lakester
#828 which he ran at El Mirage, Muroc and Bonneville. He mostly ran flatheads but in later years tried some small block Chevys but his
heart was really in the flatheads. I first met Bud in 1989 when I was helping on another team but pitted next to Bud. He asked me to
help him so my son Cam and I jumped ship and worked with Bud the rest of the week. That winter he sent me a letter and asked if
I could help him the next year. I've been going there ever since. In 1996 I purchased #828 from Bud but he was still the key element
in running 828. Bud was a great friend and he will be missed by those of us who raced with him...........Ed
