Posting struggle
« on: October 31, 2012, 08:16:18 PM »
I can't seem to post without problems. I just tried 4 times and gave up. I was trying to attach photos. First-file size too  large. I resized-then it said you already posted this-but it wasn't posted. What am I doing wrong?

I have the same problem: if the first attempt fails you're doomed

Re-name the re-sized file?
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

I'm afraid that Moxnix has the right answer - re-name the file.  It's a pain in the keester, and I have to do it now and then, too.  It's something that's part and parcel of the Forum's software and I don't know a way to get around it.

I try to pay attention, as I'm getting a photo or file ready to post, to the file's size.  If it's anywhere near the system's limit of 500k bytes I put the thing up on the Photobucket site, where size doesn't matter, and then use their link to our site/Forum here.  it's another pain -- but at least it works the first time.  As for re-naming the file (see paragraph 1) -- remember that the computer is kinda dumb - that re-naming might consist of changing or adding just one letter or digit.  That is, "AZgearhead" might become "AZgearhead1".

So you said you tried four times without luck.  Two of 'em were the photo/size/name thing -- were there more hassles?  Lemme know - via PM if there's something you want to put on the Forum as a surprise or whatever.

In the past I found that annoyance frequently. So I too would change the foto file name.

If the image had a number, just change the number. If it was a named file, w/o any numbers, add a comma.

The software can immediately spot a post with a rejected number and the only way around it is to change the name of the image.

On Landracing.com there are several foto posting rules.

Four images is the max for one post and they can not exceed 500kb. So if one image is 450kb and you try to add another

it can only be 50kb.

So plan your post. Max 4 images. Max 500kb per post.

Learn the rules and you won't whimper as often.

Landracing.com doesn't know that you rule your universe.

Landracing.com rules your posts.

Yes, re-naming the photos is necessary but you also need to change the text of your post or you will get the same message.
