Phil and I go way back (50 years) when he sold me his modified roadster in 1964.  Butch Morris and I ran that car in 1964 and 1965 with Butch's 409 that he took out of his Mothers car to run at the salt.  Years later I paid him back when I sold him Chauvin Emmons first Modified Roadster that his Son Willie and Grandson Shane still run today.

Three generations of 2 Club members from the Freudigers.  Phil loved to drive and did so into his 70's. It seems like yesterday when I attended his 80th birthday party and that was seven years ago.  We spent some time on the salt 3 years ago when his Daughter Deseree brought him to the salt.  I will miss those stories.  My thoughts and prayers to Willie,Shane,Deseree and Nancy his first Daughter.

The first 5 letters in our last name was the common bond between us.

I'm glad that it worked that way. We had fun together.

Then when Willie brought the modified roadster to be inducted into

Dry Lakes Racers Hall of Fame I wished that Phil could have been there.

Willie represents him well but Phil was the Lag Screw that held them together.

Doc,

Your memory slip is showing. Phil signed my program at that Gas Up.

Dan....I don't think he did. Willie told me he couldn't make it.

I'll look thru the fotos that I did and see if I find him.

There's a beer riding on this dispute.

Winner collects it at the awards banquet?

Just bring your program.........I'll accept that as proof.

Or just as well, I'll ask Willie.

We'll be at Willie's on the 11th for a Celebration of Life. I will ask then. I think I gave my program to Miller for safe keeping.

As promised, Joanie and I stopped by Willie Freudiger's on Sunday following the lakes meet. My recollection of Phil's presence at the 2005 Gas Up was supported by a photo of Willie slipping the HoF ring on Phil's finger while on stage.

There was a very nice slide show of old photos depicting Phil's LSR involvement over many years. We left around 4:30 and the house was getting very crowded.

Very nice deal, I want one.

Thanks for the update Dan.

I am humiliated to admit that I didn't remember him at Gas Up.

It's about time that I zip the camera bag shut.
