Wanted - full containment seat for skinny-ish driver

Steve--Check out the Roush site and look in their Surplus-for-sale section. I was on there last week and they had a few Butler Built seats for $400...these were minus headrest parts, but I am a believer in splitting the seat into body and head sections anyway. Might be an option, anyway...

Have you thought about getting a regular seat and pouring an insert.... contact Maguromic, he might have some insight on that option

I'm about 5-9, 155#.  I'm not in danger of blowing away, but I don't have a whole lot of extra, either.   Thanks for the idea on the Rousch site.  Most of the Nascar drivers are on the slim side, so that should be a good option.

I hadn't given much consideration to whether the head section should be separate from the seat section.  I can see how it might be easier to get the seat sections installed in separate pieces.  What are the other advantages?

I already have an "economy" Kirkey road racing seat, which I think is a 17" width at the hips.  It's a little big, and not as sturdy as I think an LSR seat should be.

I agree with Stainless.....Kinda boney compared to my 6' 3" 235ish lump (makes getting into my Rampage interesting.... ).

Give Joe Timney a call at Delaware Chassis Works. He has new approved Ultrashield seats with the correct left side head restraint for $600 something and that, to me, seems to be a pretty good deal. If I did not have my Kirkey already, that is the route I would go.

OK - I've started down the path of an Ultrashield VS Halo seat - trying to figure out the right size (it looks like a 15 inch width, and I'm leaning towards a 10 degree layback) , and hopefully a photo of the "new" SCTA compliant head restraint.

They also have the head and shoulder restraints that you can add later so they fit YOU and not the general public.

Olepaw, phone Kirkey and have a talk with them before you use one of their economy seats. They're designed for a really slow car that's unlikely to ever get into a tumble.

Steve, I'm sure you are wearing your 20 firesuit (required if you go blown in the future) when you fit to your seat.  Since you have a seat, you can determime the size you really want by suiting up, and using SFI foam (comes in 3/4 in slabs and it won't go to waste because there are places you will want to put it later) to line the seat.

Sturdy is better in LSR

I have a -15 suit which will have to serve its purpose for now.
 

If I ever get into blown classes, a new suit will have to be on the To-Do list.

Good idea about using SFI foam to pad to line the seat.
