I just switched over to the Discovery channel on TV, looks like the live feed is over loaded and can't handle the international traffic.

That brings back fond memories of watching live coverage of some of the early space launches.

Congratulations to Felix Baumgartner, looks like he got all the records he was shooting for except for the longest free fall jump on record, which appears to still belong to Kittenger, at 4:36. It looked like his chute deployed at 4:19.

Yup, that was good. Classy act by Felix Leaving Joes freefall end of the record intact.

This was riveting to watch, haven't been this excited to watch conquering science frontiers since the first moon landing!  Color, live with all the data on "my" computer vs. a small B&W TV back in Switzerland during my first boys scout camp in 1969.

With the team claiming supersonic speeds were reached that was a stunning record bid.  Perhaps on this occasion there can be agreement that it needs no second pass or back up :-) :-)

Felix may have been tumbling before chute release but it will be interesting to hear from him if he left his mentor with one record, just because he could.

Ho- hum.... he fell off a platform. There may have been some degree of skill involved in this stunt but I can't see it. Now, a new land speed record of over 400mph--- that's different!

Once he gotten into some atmosphere, he stopped the spin and maintained flat and stable. That takes considerable practice and skill.
