Coast Down Test
« on: October 04, 2012, 07:50:22 AM »
A couple years ago there was a link on this forum to a formula that used coast down data to calculate approximate coefficient of aero drag (CD)  The link no longer works.

This year at speed week I had two runs that I shut down at mile 4 and coasted untill mile 5.  I have the speed loss and time in seconds.  Does any one know how to apply this data to approximate CD?

I was looking for it the other day too to have my High School Eco car students set-up a coast down test.  The xls is great, thank you.

Thanks Woody.  .29 in a Mustang FALT seems about right.  Sure wish I knew how to legally improve on that! :-)
