Cool pictures and it is definitely harder for some of us to weld standing and in some of those positions vs. a table, but looks like that isn't the case for you  :-).

What are you using for a tubing bender?

JMR tubing bender(model 100 I think) and roll bender (KMS Tools Magnum brand)
Compared to welding on my back, or my head, this is a dream!!!
I've had some people laugh at how I work the pedal when I'm in a cage...armpit, thighmaster-style, etc.
I tried the hand control, hated it.
I'm going to try some nice gussets for the PS door bars to tie them in more, first time doing that style, so I'm going to play around a bit so I know what I want for driver's side.

Today was good. Got about 30% of the welding done, the PS gussets on, and more bracing and DS door bars tacked in.

DS bars both bent out..

Notice the extra bracing to triangulate all the spots in the driver's cage

Extra little gusset by the centre windshield bar for support of the joint since it isn't captured much at the junction

A look from the passenger's side at quitting time

Got a few triangles in the floor section too, gotta weld it up and get ready for seat mounts

I can't use the silly thumb control on my tig welding torch either. Just do what you do putting it between my knees or some time when welding close to floor level just using one knee.
Here a pic of Dave Chiotti our welder in a not so happy position.

We used to use verbal remote. The weldor would do his thing and someone would be standing on the pedal outside the chassis following the weldor's shouted orders. It actually worked fairly well as long as the pedal operator was also a fairly experienced weldor.  :-D :-D :-D

Now this I like!! That way if a weld turns out a little less than what you expected, you just blame it on the pedal operator!!! :-D

When you're good, you're good. I still need to have everything set up on a table and even then it isn't perfect. I did find out that I needed glasses though. Only half my problem. :-D

So just fitting up a few more door bar supports..

And then some counter-support on the outside at the junction point

View from the front

Then, cut a few tacks and yank the door X out for welding...

Ahhh, much easier...lunch break!

Also wanted to make the X removable so I could leave it out when I throw the cage back in to fit the seat mounts and column mounts.
Make my life much easier.
