bikes and model building
« on: August 21, 2012, 09:16:33 PM »
You guys have to see this site if you have any interest at all in bikes.  It's 1:35 scale model building a notch or two above museum display quality.  Maybe your dream shop, maybe something you'd run and hide from.

To get an idea of the size of these models a human figure in that scale would be about 2 inches tall.  Scroll to the bottom of the pictures and there are 4 links to other work by Mr. Malmberg.  The 1:87 models are common HO scale.
If you want to see more of the photographic work of Australian and American model builders primarily oriented toward model trains go to Mario Rapinett's main web site:

and click down through "Movid"; "Movid Studio 10"; "Worldwide Miniatures" and you'll see some pretty incredible model train scenery done by people in the US, Australia and other countries.
I'm an LSR car guy, who promised my sweetheart 50 years ago not to get into motorcycles.  Still I have huge respect for them and their rider/builders.  I've also had a lifelong interest in model trains, the subculture that Anders Malmberg is close to.
Some of you might be inspired to dabble in that world when the snow is flying and the shop is too cold for your old bones.  If you are one whose body is fairly wrecked but still have close up vision and fine motor control of your hands take a look at what modelbuilding offers.  There are some interesting frontiers there for people who have a real world understanding of racing and want something more to build and hang on the wall besides some old photos and trophies.
