Any change in salt conditions?  Did the rain bypass the salt and the surrounding mountains?  We got a bit of rain (well, maybe more than a bit) in the Salt Lake City area yesterday, but Weather Underground only shows 0.01".  That must be since midnight, because I know we had more than that.  Additionally, a 40% chance of thunderstorms is predicted for the next 3 days.

I'm thrashin on my race car and hoping for the best.

Isn't the Bonneville Speedway Museum logo missing something?
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Since the Salt is touted as the world's fastest race course , you would think a streamliner would be fitting for the Museum Logo

Don't ever trust Jeg's.  I ordered a roll cage kit from them on Wednesday of last week because their rep went to great lengths to convince me that it would be delivered on Saturday, regardless of the holiday, regardless of a whole bunch of other stuff.  Well, the shipment left Kansas City yesterday ayem and by all rights should be on SLC by now.  However, because of the holiday, they tell me that it won't be delivered until Wednesday.

I did my best to restrain myself and my temper and just asked them to refund the shipping portion of the order ($120) which they did.  However, they stonewalled me on everything else.  I haven't bought anything from Jeg's for a long time, mainly because they wouldn't tell you if a part was on back-order or not.  I've done all my parts ordering thru Summit.  I guess I'm going to go back to Summit and never order a single thing from Jeg's again.

In the meantime, since I had 5 days, my car's halfway ready to be repainted.  I'll go out and keep sanding, then hit the masking tape, fire up the compressor and HVLP gun and...well, it looks like I'll only be running in the 130 Club this year instead of both 130 and 150.

Here's a shot of the current state of the car...it's actually further along than that...it was just the most last photo I'd unloaded from the camera:

Oh, man, Ray -- major bummer.  I'm very sorry to hear that you won't have the cage ready for WoS -- in less than a week.  I'm afraid to say it -- but - - "Ain't this racin' fun?"

C U in a few days.

Lots and lots of fun!  But I'll be there and race something.

Left front fender looks a little better now:

The black panels below are plastic.

I tried two different streamliners and at that scale they looked like more mountains.
The roadster looked like a roadster.

Since I have to ship back and forth we hit the carwash then coat everything in WD-40 before crating.  Does anyone have any suggestions to better remove the salt before shipping?

Ray, I'm always cautious about making plans on the promises of others.  This "just in time" logistics that has become the rule for suppliers to minimize inventory costs has all but paralyized the sales end of the business I work for, and it's clearly not working for Jegs, or you.

At least you got the shipping comped - but there remains no one accountable for follow through or "promises" that led your sales wonk to state what he quoted you regarding shipping.

Let's see about 5 runs at 139.999.

Just my personal experience:  I wash everything real well with clean water (except electrics) then I follow with a liberal spraying (from a garden sprayer) of Salt-X (google it). Certain things like carbs and vulnerable aluminum parts get a good coating of LPS 3. WD-40 is probably just as good, but the LPS 3 creates a "skin" that eventually has to be removed with Carb or brake cleaner. Kinda like the idea behind cosmoline back in the GI days.......
