If my math is correct, the record for #1715 is 422.509.  I believe that is the fastest record ever for a piston-engine car, exceeding #411 AA/BFS's record of 417.020.

Congratulations to George, Ron, and the Speed Demon crew!

Super congratulation to George Poteet, Ron Main and the entire Speed Demon team. On a D motor no less.

Fastest SCTA record. Al Teague's 425.050 1km FIA record will have to wait until the Top Speed Shootout.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.

Congratulations to Pork Pie and the Speed Demon crew, great to hear both had good runs.

I can't wait to get out for the shoot out, it should be a very interesting series this year!

I caught the following shots while Porkpie was practicing bail outs on the car, prior to tech inspection.
I think the last shot is the suitable shot for his new record.

I got home last night after a faultless trip in the Chopped `28 Sedan on Deuce rails I built for a customer. I spent all week Inspecting again this year, and although I said Hi to a few of you, I wasn`t able to take much time off to socialise. i was lucky enough to get to the 200Club Banquet with Bob Ellis, Chief Tech Inspector for the DLRA ,and sit at the same table as Glen Barrett, Dave Davidson and Ro Yale.Highlight to see Russ Eyres get the Man Of The Year Trophy. Well Deserved.Hope you all have a safe trip home, especially you, Nancy.Didn`t manage to say Hi, but am thinking of you.A really great meet this year, so many records broken. I think there were 54 on Monday alone.....

  Just a quickie here.
I left Vancouver, Wa with the #394 "Old Stud Racing" Studebaker last Thursday morning and after a list of disasters that are beyond belief pulled in Monday evening to wave goodby to my departing crew.
I myself was sick just for a topper, and had only gotten 7 hrs. of sleep (all upright in the pickup) since 6am last Wednesday, so other than towing the race car out to use my rented portapotty, and enjoy two nights at the Hotel that I paid seven for, I put the race car and trailer in storage and drove home with only a slight delay when I was rear-ended by a brand new Kia Optima Hybrid rental car whose driver deleted the insurance and probably does not have a lick of private insurance.
Good news, I am alive, the house had not burned down, and all I have to do is figure out how and when I go pick up the Race Car and trailer.

Oh, and how I am going to come up with the cash, for gas.
If I hit the lotto, I hope to retrieve the car and run either World of Speed or the World Finals.
The "much older stud", No Run Bob
Oh, and one good note, Dan W. told me I am still in the running to win my second Courtney Heizer award  because the year aint over yet...........

Wow that sucks Bob, sorry to hear that, but I definitely understand.

I got my old car totaled on the way home from speedweek last year in a parking lot by a guy in Ford Superduty truck who sort of missed his parking spot at the convenience store and wiped out the left side doors. Very frustrating and I had not been sick.

Could be over 150 records set this year.  Hmm.  I look forward to the final count.

Bob,
The insurance that the person who hit you deleted is only for coverage of the rental car. The car itseself MUST have liabilty insurance that covers anybody he hits. That is the law so all you need to do is make a claim against the rental car company and you should be fine.
