Scoll up a bit for a coupla photos of the Sonnet.  Definitely a 3-cylinder 2-stroke.

I just cot to the short course (#1) in time to get a coupla "goin away" shots of the Bockscar lakester.  Anyone know if it's Pork Pie at the wheel?

They made a 3 cyl 2 smoke and a V4.
Got a couple of the V4 motors and a body FS.

Jeff Brant and the Brant/Wright/Speranza 600cc liner.

While I wasn't looking, they turned the salt around and cars were going the other way.  J/K.  I shot the Mitchell Motorsports 37 Chevy coupe on the short course.

And Bob Lewis on a 1945 Harley.

Rex and Tom, congrats. Rex, you gotta remember being pitted next to me several years ago with the goal of getting your time only little blue gull wing up to 200 mph. Now look at you my friend, that is one big number. Tom, thanks for being there with your support, your the best.

Ray, if I remember correctly Bob Sirna owns that Gullwing and let Mr. Fitch do the driving one year.  Motor problems kept them from the record.

See: "A Gullwing at Twilight ~ The Bonneville Ride of John Fitch"  a great DVD!

Thanks to all for the news . . . .

I just heard part of a run that I wish I had heard the rest of (darn interruptions in the office).  Can anyone confirm whether #8217 (H/DT) was a turn-out after 1 mile, or did he complete the run?

All I saw was the smoke from the short course....but is sure seemed to go for a long way.  I wish I hadn't missed it.

Btw, Poteet & Main are in line again on the long course.  We'll see if the small motor is running right or...???

Nancy and I were eating at the Red Flame when Betty Howard, George Poteet's sister, sat down with us.  With her was a fellow that looked kinda familiar, but that we hadn't met.  It turns out that it's his first time to the salt to see his dad run.  Sure enough, George Jr. is here -- kinda sorta getting ready to learn how to drive, maybe.  Maybe in one of Dad's older cars.  But one thing for sure - Junior looked like he was having fun and chomping at the bit to start driving.  Proof that it can happen to all of us.

We're in the throes of Wednesday afternoon -- meaning a few minutes 'tween runs, and then more waiting.  But things are going to pep up in the next little while, I surmise.  The Speed Demon support trailer just moseyed down the access road to be there when George makes the next pass, and just now the Vesco 444 trailer went the same way.  More to come, but I'll post this so you can get a bit of work done before the fast guys run.

Car 1015 on #1  mile 3 185,  middle mile 186.368  Might qualify - wait for what Glen tells us

B3399 #3  1/4 160 mph  last mile 153 mph

Car 1202 T/O mile 3 199.556  mile 4 208.402

Car 272  195 1/4 on #1 middle mile 208   last mile  210.160

B613 next on #3 course    74.632 mile,

#1 4441 Vesco B/GS with Eric (?) driving - hoping for a blue hat.   mile  speed  - - whoops.  I think I see the car at about the 1 1/2, towing a chute and moving very slowly.

541  133 mph in the 1/4 mile  133.788 mile

9991 Salt Cat II next on #1  1/4  206   mile  212.583  middle mile  222.233  last mile  not reported.  Is this the world's fastest straight 8 Buick, asks Glen?

1715  Poteet & Main next on #1

275 mile 1/4 325  mile 3 335  middle mile  385   last mile  401.431  398 exit speed -- pulled chute before the five mile.

9900 A/GL on #2     179 1/4   shut off at about the three, no, engine back on (or foot back in it) back to 206.906 last mile

3838 on #3   132.405

#1   car 2853  177 mile 3   mile 4  197   last mile  205.412

B3963   mile 4 208.505  on #2  shut off to a 105 in the last mile

B1960

#1   Car 366 C/GL  Ravenna Garage  228.698 first mile 242.702 middle mile   250.874 last mile

This is the biggest registration SpeedWeek ever -- and here we are on Wednesday, Monte Warnock calling on the radio to ask for racers for #1 & #2.  He says that with luck he'll be able to wake up one or two of the starters that are otherwise napping.  Four courses make for short waiting lines.  Thanks for the work, SCTA/BNI Volunteers, to make the event run so well.

I've been wandering aimlessly for a while (short course, Impound, Red Flame - yum!) so here are a few from the short course:

The Flying Squirrel Suzuki with Eric Wittler hanging onto the handlebars,

A couple shots of Jeff Brock's Bonneville Bombshell (Doug Greive of the Salt Cat team and I were wondering which of those 2 was the most-photographed Buick straight-8 car.)

And the McMeekin & Grimes Nissan-Ford.

DOH- about 20 mins ago, I lost the audio feed just as #8217 was on the course again. Last thing I heard was "#8217, H Diesel Truck, through the second mile...". Then my phone cut out. Can anyone tell me if #8217 made it to impound?
