A coupla quick images and then back to regularly scheduled irregularity.

A shot of Jupiter from the Hubb..  Oops.  The sun was unbelievably red this morning (caused by the smoke and other stuff in the air..it's almost chewy...break off a chunk, chew on it for a bit then breathe it) and the clouds in front made for a pretty dramatic shot.

Dennis Varni as he prepares to take his seat in his streamliner.

And here's the aforementioned liner pulling away from the starting line.

Fast forward to Tegan Hammond as she takes off for her record return (shutter speed of 1/40th makes for some nice panning blur of the background.)

Doug, I enjoyed the smell of the nitro for ya.  Between Rex's Saab and Field's Simca (yeah, right...Simca...sure) it was pretty darned sweet.  I love the smell of napalm nitro in the morning.  Yer doin a great job.  Keep up the good work!

From yesterday in Impound:

This definitely ain't yer father's Olsmobile!  (two images)

Not the best shot...hard to shoot a bike in the back of a truck, but the subject made it worthwhile, I thought.  A 500 cc BSA manufactured around 1945.  British Army bike.  Flathead motor allows it to run in the 350 pushrod class.  He ran about 70 mph to get to Impount.

Six records for $2 grand...that's how much the owner/builder told me he has invested in this sidehack rig.  I can't find his name in the program; maybe someone else will identify it.

Moving on.

A coupla Arduns...one in a coupe; one in a roadster...with a re-inspection tag after a spin.

Last batch from yesterday:

The Salt Cat lakester spends a lotta time in Impound.  Good stuff!

A coupla shots of the Cohn & Jucewic Monza.  Wild color and some outrageous headers.

Finally the ex-John Fitch Mercedes 300 SL now campaigned by Robert Sirna & Tony Delorenzo.  Gorgeous car, chasing a 172.9 record.

slim
been busy the last week or so.... no time to read this thread, what happened to yer girl?
kent

Spun off the line a little ways out, the bikes rear and followed her front end and they seemed to meet together after a brief dance...the bike is repairable and the good news she is healable..couple broken ribs and a collarbone break I think also...

Get well Nancy!

Fortunately it happened at low speed. We are glad to hear that she is doing OK-- now get back up on the horse that throw'ed ya, Nancy.

Agreed - I "almost" bought a SAAB Sonnet back in '84 or '85 or so - cool, quirky cars.  Is that J/GT entry a 2-stroke engine, my memory escapes me about those SAAB Sonnet engines.
