Needing some help
« on: July 31, 2012, 06:35:32 AM »
On Saturday late at Loring we dropped a valve in the ZX-6, that in turn broke a valve, etc, etc.  Very ugly in cylinder #4.  It ruined what was an otherwise fantastic event for us.  That's racing.  Our delima is there are simply no parts for this bike.  We badly need a 2005-2006 Kawasaki ZX-6rr cylinder head.  Only the rr (599cc) head will work, not the R (636cc).  No more repair left in this head.  If you come across one, we will be very much interested.  If need be I'll buy the engine or the bikr itself.  We have searched everywhere with, as yet, no luck.  If you find something contact me here or at landspeeder9539@yahoo.com
Thanks to everyone in advance.

2008 Kawasaki ZX-10R (4 200 MPH Clubs)
2008 Kawasaki EX-250R (Multiple ECTA and LTA records)
131 Land Speed Records set since 2008
125 Land Speed Racing records (including 3 Worlds Fastest Speeds) set since 2008.

Greg, Check your email. I found an outlet for an OE cylinder head for you! Hope it saves the bike. Incidentally, I also found a 2005 ZX6rr basically stock in NH. Let me know if you want info for that. Speed Safe!

Thanks everyone.  With your help we have some leads to follow up on.  Hopefully one will come through.  There is also the possibility of a head being in a warehouse in Japan.  We will find one somewhere, and thanks again.

Hi roadracer. I'm interested to know what the difference is between the 636 and the rr600?  how do the head vary... I had always thought capacity was the difference between the two?

The 05-06 rr is on my list of homologation specials... one that will by my guess slip under the radar..

I have never had a ZX-6R head in hand when the engine was torn down.  My understanding, which may not be correct, is the bolt pattern is different on the 6R and 6rr.  I have also been told there is a difference in the centers for the exhaust.  Again I don't know this to be factual.  What I do know is that Kawasaki does not list the 636 head part number as an alternate for the 599.  Also the 2006 ZX-6rr head was the hot ticket back in the day.  The 2005 head is a completely different part number from the 2006 and the 2006 part number is listed as the superseded for the 2005.  My 2006 ZX-6rr is now a 636cc.  We bored it long ago.  The bike is dynomite.  145 HP at the wheel.  109.118 mph in a standing 1.5 mile and 184.161 in a standing 1 mile.  182.095 in street legal condition in a standing 1 mile.  Kawi USA says there are heads in stock in Japan.  The leads here have helped me and we have a complete head coming to us.  Now looking for a good spare.

Greg I think you went 209.118 in the 1.5 mile (not 109.118) ???

I hope you find the parts you need to get that 600RR back on the track,,, it is one fast Kawi !!!

carolina cycle.com does have a head listed as a reference ( part ) #11008.

might not be what you want, as it is a complete head- not just the casting.
a phone call might find a bare head.

sure it's not what you wanna pay- just south of 1800 dollars.

still waiting on a reply from johnny in phoenix and a local shop
with numerous kaw dragbikes.

Service honda in indiana also sells kawaker part's. the part number for the cyl head for the 2005 and 2006 is the same. Price is $1441.00 but they do not have any in stock and they are back ordered. Part# 11008-0063 for 05 & 06

The speed that you wish to achieve is only limited by the depth of your wallet.

I'm tired Charles and my posts reflect it.   Thanks again to everyone.  I knew getting into it that the price was going to be steep.  That was the trick head for Kawi in the 599cc class.  Not many bikes mfg'ed so not many spares.  You all have opened some doors for me and we'll get this bike back into racing.
