September, who's going? Goals Etc...
« on: July 24, 2012, 02:10:45 PM »
Well It looks like after a good showing in Maine with my Studebaker, I still have some work to do to up my Ohio record from 195.51 to anything over 200.00000

Barring an unforseen emergency I shall be there with my objective of 200 mph..
I know it will be tough.. the main obsticle for me in my opinion is the weather..
It would be nice if we have 65 to 80 degree air temps slight high altitude cloud cover and no wind at all or just a slight tail wind.

I know, I know,, wow I am asking for a lot  LOL...

See you all there,,,

We have some potentials that we are waiting on hearing about before we act but we may try to make september and run with a little nitrous. Or it may be a winter build and turbos and fuel injection for next year.

Oh my POWER ADDERS !!!  good luck..

I am still trying for 200 in the mile my (the hard way) C motor on gas with a single carb... I did 205.939 at Loring with a head wind ... It is going to be close,,,

I am in the beginning stages of being drawn to the dark side of POWER ADDERS but am still holding out hope for good weather and an honest attempt my way in September...

Hope to see you guys in September in whatever configuration you have.

After looking at historical weater data Charles, I have deduced that Late September tends to be mild temp and fairly dry. We will not be makeing the trip. Out of money, time and horse power. I think Amy hurt the motor a little at the July meet so we are down for the winter.

We also may run just fuel injection so we can ditch the hood scoop in hopes of better aero and a 200mph pass at Wilmington.

I am getting things together. Since my successful tests in July. I am ready to make a try for a personal best in September. Still a couple things to do but for once I have some time to get it right. testing, testing, testing.

I'll be there trying to take my record back from Lance and seeing if I can match or beat my 160 mile at Loring.  Will probably try going up two teeth in the rear or down one up front just to se if she will pull 6th a bit better.  Just have to do the math and make sure that leaves enough top end for the record.  I too would really like a break from those crosswinds.  With it being the last event of the season, I would also like to get in a little lapping Sunday to try and figure out just how lean or rich this engine likes to run.

I was reading in the Bonnevile News thread and made a post that they had a picture of my truck going down the track with a good caption under it and a very good picture of you Charles going down track in the Studebaker with a good caption about your speed  and other good pictures also. I should have been at this thread for I explained that the extremely hot weather we have been having had caused a health setback with my congestive heart failure and copd and I had been planning more modifications for my truck and coming back in September hoping for some of the weather Charles had asked for but I am going to have to wait until next April and just hope we have better than this past April.
I have been reading and checking on what you guys and gal have been running, isn't it great to have a track like Wilmington? Congratulations to you Charles for your run at Loring and to the Geezers for all of your good runs everywhere. My friend David Grey has been getting stronger every where they go with there 56 Corvette which I am very partial to being I am a fourty year Corvette owner.
Good luck, fast speeds and most of all safe runs for all of you and I will see you next Spring.

We are coming with the green junk. Hope to have the cylinder head problem worked out finally. Also going to make some adjustments to the tune that should fix the 200mph problem!! Only time will tell. The way this year has gone im not getting my hopes up.
