There is at least one car on the salt with a propeller (a small one with 8" blades) powered by a 2HP engine that has set several records. I cant name the car as I am sworn to secrecy or I will suffer the breath of a thousand camels.  :-o Tony

If you have ever sailed a boat the 2 accomplishments by this guy and his team are absolutely amazing.

Conventional wisdom has long said that you couldn't go downwind faster than the wind let alone directly upwind.

His downwind sped was about 54mph coudn't find any number for the upwind runs.

Though for him and his group of enthusiasts it seems to be the "times greater than windspeed" mark that they set their records around.

His downwind runs seem to hover around 3x windspeed and the upwind numers are around 2x.

Sounds like room temp superconductors ...

OK, everything is relative.  So if I push this car at 20mph, it sees a 20 mph wind, and it will go faster than that?  Perpetual motion?

That is sensational. :-o :-o

Everybody should read the stuff on their site, smart, funny and they proved something that not many people thought was at all likely.
Few understand what I'm trying to do but they vastly outnumber those who understand why...................

Look at the FOX news pic.  There is a vertical line behind the upright.  The top blade appears to be about 1:00 looking at the front, yet the bottom blade appears to be at 5:00?  The huge prop is supported by a free standing thin shaft.

If that's not a photoshop, then what gives?

Looks fine to me.
Perhaps you are confused by the twist of the prop?
