Oh... YUGO Stan ... those are pretty early , mock up shots. I guess we get the idea,thank you.

I am on break tonight from 2nd.shift (I am a solo studio again, chased off all the poor help)
I think I figured out how to upload a shot of the cock pit :

complete steering : check
driveshaft assembly : check
trans. & shifter : check

First -- I've got to get my Wennerberg easy translation manual for Yugo.  Most I can figure out.

Second -- isn't there a difference between a cock pit and a cockpit?

Stan --  Hello ! ... obviously, I was thinking with my Toronado. geez, read the manual.
* speaking of ... I set RIGHT over the front U-joint. I mean like 1.5" below my butt. I have 1/4" steel plate and the seat pan between us.
 Enough?
 I've heard some driveshaft "war" stories.

In my blown alky minipuller I sat right over the shaft and almost that close. NTPA rules required complete 1/4" steel shielding substantially attached to the chassis at front and rear (only 16" apart in my case). But in my mind, the key aspect of the rule was that the shield inner diameter be round and smooth. Do you have room for a complete round shield?

Hey Jack, thanks for the input.  I have built a front u-joint / front shaft section, round sleeve, 1/4" steel tube, right at the "business" section (under my butt) that is pretty darn safe feeling / looking. it is 2 1/2 times wider than the SCTA requirement. with a solid 1/4" plate beneath my seat.
Then I shrowded  the balance (rear section) in a rectangle tube.

 I am not as worried about this application, as I would a high revin, real horse power situation.

I am hoping to get all I need done at 5500 rpm, with a couple 6000 shift spikes along the way.
Buick straight 8 -- later model 5 speed -- 25.5" drive shaft.
