I ran methanol in my Weslake at 14:1 but as Keenan put the fuel record at El Mirage into the stratosphere I switched to gas.  I went faster and had no overheating problems despite the fact that the Weslake has about as much finning as a goldfish.  Unless you are dead set on methanol I'd give VP110 or ERC 110 a try and you might be pleasantly surprised.
Get off the stove Grandad.  You're too old to be riding the range.
