I bought TWO more '28 Dodge Fast Four engine blocks and am trying to get them shipped to me affordably.  Is anyone out there headed to Speedweek from the Chicago area who might have some extra room in thier trailer/truck and would deliver them to the SALT in August?  They can be lifted by a couple of people, no hoist required.  I'd be happy to throw in some money, beers, tacos for the favor.

cheers

Thanks!

If this doesn't work out, don't forget to try a HAMB relay. Got my Plymouth engines from Speedweek to Lincoln. How many Blocks do you have, now?

Thanks for the PMs!

You guys are just another example why I love landspeed racing!   grin  What a great community!

Rich, I think we have about 8 blocks, about 3 of which are quite nice, 3 of which might be usable, and 2 bad ones which have been cut up to analyze core shift, wall thickness, and used on the flow bench.  Considering we'd like to have a lakester in addition to the roadster some day, and I want to build a Fast Four powered speedster as a hot rod, we can't have too many!

Thanks all,

Pete

Again, thanks all...

I am awaiting an exact address, and more information about whether there will be help available to load, weight, etc.  I'll let those of you who have PM'ed me know as soon as I hear.

 cheers

Are these bare blocks?

Sorry for the delay.  I've been waiting on more info from the seller.  Originally I thought I was just buying blocks but they are actually complete 'short' blocks (complete but no heads or accessories).  I would estimate they weigh 300# (?) each.  He has a hoist at his shop to load.  I realize that makes it more complicated, so I understand if some of you who previously offered change your mind.  Let me know.

Thanks, Pedro

Is Tony on your team the same Tony that used to build bike frames with Carl Strong up there?

Small freaking world! I have met Tony a time or two. I spent half of my so-called adult life in the bike business. It is fun to see bike gearheads that are into ALL other forms of machinery.......guns, cars, etc. Knew I liked you guys for a reason! grin cheers

"If you can get them down I 57 to exit 71, they will have a dry place to live untill we get to Wendover."

If someone can get them from Manteno, Illinois to Benton, Illinois, a fellow racer can bring them to the SALT> Anyone??

Nancy -- 201.913 mph record on a production ZX15!

Nancy and I are driving to St. Louis, MO this Friday (leaving home Thursday afternoon) - and theoretically could help get them from Manteno to somewhere like Effingham or such.  It'd be some out of our way, and we don't have the luxury of lots of spare time (her brother is getting married and the party starts Friday evening).  I would ask for a couple of bucks for the extra fuel for the few extra miles - but really, we don't have enough time to drive them all the way to Benton.

Figure out something and I'll see if we can do it.  Oh, yeah -- we'd have to drive in the pickup, not the Subaru Impreza - but that's no big deal.  The diesel truck gets danged good mileage on the highway - something like 22 mpg.  Your fuel charge won't be more than say - $350 or so.  Maybe less. . . grin
