Oh! And submarines don't have windshields either!!!!!!!!!!

Are you trying to tell me that Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea was all faked???

RIIGGHHHTTTT ....

Anyhow, since I'm known for doing dumb things:

I will try to drive to work this week with no windshield view using a $100 El Crappo Brand video system.

I'll probably do a better than job than most cellphone junkies.

For a racecar, I'd get something that cost more than a pair of good shoes, but it is far superior to the video on my old Qualifier video system that cost $105,000 originally.

Technology changes.  Love my 14" disc brakes.

Those would be conning tower windows. But can they be windows of ANY type since there is no wind underwater? These are the questions of our time!

Lindbergh didn't have spectators standing 1/4 mile either side of him as he flew through the clouds.

Does a submarine travel at 250 mph?  Torpedoes might, but they're DESIGNED to crash into things.

If the standard is someone on a cell phone, again, I'll be at the southwest end of the track.

With the courses at Bonneville being 90 feet wide it doesn't take much to get off course at speed. Even to drive back on the course the run would probably would be denied by the officials. I have seen many vehicles get off the course with good visibility. Driving with artificial means is a lot more difficult. Leaving the course should be the same as a aborted run.

Pat, you could probably put that up at the DLRA general meeting. after our fourth meeting in a row cancelled due to a wet lake, it might get up.

you guys are going to make Freud get a rental car with a backup camera to test this theory....

Stainless, I'll try to remember to get a rental car with e reversing camera.

I'll buy the beer and bring my lawn chair to watch!

If you bring the beer,  you can ride my the rental car with Freud , and maybe we will make it onto next years salt talks T shirt.

I guess the real question I is, if you are going to run looking thru a video camera, why even be in the car at all.

This forum is a great source of technical expert knowledge . . .
OK class  . . . let’s review.
After carefully reading every post in this subject I have assembled the most pertinent points . .
1.    You may use video cameras instead of a windshield if you are wearing a helmet with no eye ports.
2.   After 1 Jan 2013 all enclosed vehicles will need to replace the windshields’ glass with steel.
3.   Submarines running under 250 mph are exempt from windshield restrictions.
4.   In the rear engine submarine classes not using video cameras instead of a windshield, the combined body area covered or altered by the windshield cannot cover more than 65% of the body as viewed from above.
5.   El Caminos and Rancheros meeting the requirements within this category will compete in the appropriate class with video cameras instead of a windshield when using approved cable TV service or OEM OnStar service.
6.   Video cameras, unloaded, must be able to lean 20 degrees from vertical without touching the ground.
7.   These rules do not apply to Charles Lindberg
8.   Enclosed vehicles using video cameras instead of a windshield are NOT eligible for the Season Points Championship at El Mirage in 2013.
9.   Classic Category vehicles with video cameras instead of a windshield are limited to the use of black and white monitors.
Any questions?
