Excellent video. I was lucky and worked with a couple of guys from the aircraft industry when I first started out but I've seen a lot of incorrect safety wiring when working even on otherwise well prepared cars.

Such a simple thing but so easy to screw up.

Saltfever, great video from the EAA! I just helped with tech at Wilmington and I observed many not horrible but not quite right safety wire jobs as Brian states in his video. So I thought I should find a good video and post it. You just beat me off the line! You snooze - you lose!  :-o

BTW: I learned safety wiring in the US Army's air farce! They were very anal about it, too!

Marine Air Wing in the 60's. I didn't have a video in those days . . . only a Master Sergeant looking over my shoulder . . . some things you don't forget!   :-D

Thanks, that is a great video. The one about corrosion proofing is good as well.

Great point, Tman. Especially considering the environment LSR lives in!

Now you need a pair of the reversible, RH and LH pliers! $110 for 12 inchers at McMaster Carr or $50 for 6 inch at Aircraft Spruce. Note the Aircraft Spruce pliers are their "Economical" model I think the other word for that is
"Made in China". I would go with the McMaster Carr units they don't sell ChiCom stuff.

Being able to either have a set of LH and RH pliers or one that will do both certainly makes safety wiring better, I have never had a set of LH pliers and have made all the mistakes shown in the video and more, but I will now.

Plus I love the look Alodine leaves! Look at the Blowfish engine thread, sexy gold anodizing and ALODINE!

Rex, I knew enough to be dangerous safety wiring. I am worse now!

Yeah, Neil. EAA is all about home building your own air plane. From what I see, LSR quality of construction and safety is not much different. Every builder should have the EAA site bookmarked.
