Queensland Timing Association event in August 2012
« on: June 05, 2012, 08:55:10 PM »
I've received notice that there will be a land speed racing event in Australia this August.  Please follow the link, and, if you're interested in what's going on -- please notice the rules about entry.  It's stressed that this first-ever event will be a test of many things - including the surface' ability to withstand racing, the area infrastructure, and other items.  It's obvious that a good lot of thought has gone into making this event happen.  Whether you can race there this time or not -- you ought to take the time to read about how these folks are trying to do it.

Slim, they may need someone experienced to manage the dunnies.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

I have NO IDEA what dunnies are....

the trouble is that it is so close to Bonneville Speedweek, that, while I would dearly love to go, I cannot make it down there.... :cry:

Australian (Strine) English  to US English

Dunnies = Toilets
Thunderboxes = Long drop toilets
Portaloos = What Seldom Seen Slim organizes for Bonneville

Two nations, divided by one language?

Thunderboxes?  What a fine name for them - considering the noises I've heard coming from some of the portaloos.

Thunderboxes -- gotta remember that one.  Maybe we should investigate equipping some of the units with noise-cancelling insulation. :evil: :-P
