Video - getting our tune on for Speedweek 2012
« on: May 25, 2012, 03:10:28 PM »
or, at least as much of the tune we can hold back on a chassis dyno.    We made it to 1440 ft-lbs at the wheel during VE map tuning before spinning tires.

This is Lee Sicilio's new car, starting off in A/BGALT at speedweek this year.   Engine is a Ray Barton 498cid Hemi turbocharged with a pair of ProMod 91mm units from Precision.  Ryan Fain at Brink Racecraft built the entire car.

Anyways, here's a little video from the dyno last weekend:

Don,

most of the session was used for building good Fuel and Timing maps at part throttle.  During one test at 5100rpm and 6.7psi of boost the dyno recorded 1440 ft-lbs at the wheel.  Later in the session we tried to make Ramp pulls (what you see more typically in dyno videos, a WOT pull over a set RPM range), but the tires spun on the rollers at 800whp which happens before the engine even makes boost.

That sounds nasty! I dig the way you have the turbos mounted up front. Gonna tuck right up under the nose, right?

Yep!  pics:

And yes, I know, the exhaust exits are not optimal for the application, but this year there's simply no room in or under the car to route them out the back.  (been told that a few times already)   :-)

Lee's other car is awsome and this one is even more awsome. He is going to have a ball with it at SW. Scott will give him a great tune that will be driveable.

Dieselgeek:

My budy owns a superflow dyno and we would like to know what system was used to capture that video with the dyno guages superimposed on the screen? Can you PM with contact info for the chassis dyno the Lee used? We would like to see if we could add that video to the dyno here in Tampa, FL

Thanks,

Bill
