There's nothing illegal-looking about that nose, Tman.  Is it a self-portrait? evil

They were protested about that nose, the BIG devil knows more evil

Vortec blower at one time, ProCharger would have gone faster grin

Can someone edify me on the "illegal nose" comment? ......

I assume it has to be in relation to the Camaro but - what exactly is the illegal part?.... If it is modified - exactly where? If it gets past record certification, maybe we too should apply the trick to our Vega, which, if equipped with the same size/class engine, ought to go, what, 10 or so MPH faster.....

IIRC, from the factory, that year Camaro body has radiator grill extending under the bumper, I had a 1977 so my memory is pretty stale.  You are not allowed to block the radiator grill, BUT you can put an airdam below the front bumper.

I would see the airdam as being a safety feature.  My 77 would start to lift it's nose past 125mph (no it wasn't stock engine).

OKAY - thanx McRat!....

I was studying the pictures to see if there was any of the 2% body stretch etc in the front end.... We ONLY run altered due to a full tube (originally a prostock/altered drag race type chassis in the Vega and therefore, NOT a stock frame) .... We run a front end very similar to the Camaro - but, like I say, with about 70% of the frontal area.... Speedwise, with a 432 C.I.D. (B Class) engine, the Vega is as fast as that Camaro... hmmm.... perhaps even faster...

If it was me I'd go with a 4.25 stroke and a 4.500 bore , thats a 540". You might consider using cast iron merlin cyl heads as they hold a head gasket better than aluminum. your best choice for a blower would be a screw blower like a PSI or a Whipple. Blown gas is dominated by turbo"s for a reason , blowers make alote of heat on gas and are hard to get the tune right for the long end of the coarse. The screw blowers make alote less heat and as previously mentioned , the bigger the better so you dont have to overdrive by much. The bigger the cubes , the more overdrive you need to make the same boost , and more heat. Good luck , its the hardest tuneup on the salt.

How about a Dart 540 Block, Twin-Turbo, inter-cooler and a conservative 1,776 HP on gas?

I was out of town Mon and Tues looking at a couple of Dart tall deck 4.60 bore used blocks. One had too many things that I couldn't use and the other had some issues that bothered me.

vintagehotrod,
We have been running blown gas in a B motor in a Comp Coupe and have an idea what you are talking about. Your combo looks very good. I wondering about the Pro Charger for blown. It can be intercooled.

This looks perfect . all under the hood. That will be one fast lakester.

That would take a little research to see if it is for sale or not. This was a prior project, I was only showing it for reference purposes and provided the links to the YouTube video because it listed the build details.

Hooley,

If you run turbos (heck, even if you go N/A) - if you set it up for EFI I'd be willing to tune it for you low-budget style.  Let me know!

Thank you Scott,
That is a nice offer. It will be next year before it would be running.
