Next was the oil filter , Jacob fabricated a spacer with oil cooler lines coming out the side & it has a new oil pressure gauge. We have a new aluminum filter with a washable stainless filter element. That ugly black filter was used for mock up. The new filter had just been delivered & Jacob hadn't spun it on yet. If I had been thinking ,I would have spun it on for the photo.

Jacob has almost everything done on the handle bars. He has the new tach mounted & wired. The stabilizer on & the kill switch .All that is missing it a main power switch. Jacob has been to a few parts dealers & every switch has been a cheap piece of crap. Jacob is a bit of a perfectionist. He isn't going to compromise on the quality of the switch. I totaly agree with him. The last thing we need is to spend all this time & money on the bike & have a switch problem at the salt flats. We are going through aircraft parts catalogs looking for a switch that we like.

Jacob finished the new batter box. Using this new smaller battery there was room in the box for the starter solenoid.
Mounted on the bottom of the battery box is the new fuel pump. We were going to use a stock style fuel pump. But after talking to other CX owners we heard the stock pump can be problematic at times. So we decided to dodge that  bullet & we laid out the cash for a nice racing fuel pump

With all this fabricating & tinkering Jacob has been doing .I was surprised  when I looked at the tail end. The guy that owned this bike before us had cut off the back end of the frame & had it looking like a cafe racer. Jacob didn't like the looks of the open ended frame tubes. I don't know where he got them ,but he has these cool looking blue anodized plugs. Jacob said he also wanted to seal off the frame to keep the salt out of the frame as much as we can.

Another little detail I almost missed is these little pegs for the the pit stand. We had looked at a cool pit stand at the Honda dealer. But they wanted a bit more than we were willing to spend on a pit stand. Jacob purchased the blue anodized pegs ,the pit stand is going to be made at the Monta Vista High School metal shop.

great bellcrank and linkage for the shifter.
not familiar with your motor but the fab work on the bike is top notch.
I like plain black oil filters. and would stay away from chrome or anything else. imo.

Are you kidding about that UGLY black oil filter.
Here is a photo of the the style oil filter we are going to use. It isn't chrome... Knowing Jacob the way I do... I have a feeling the filter case & the spacer Jacob fabricated will be making a trip to Kent Willis at AtoZ Metal Finishing

99.99% of the credit for the fabricated parts on this salt cycle needs to go to JACOB BAGNELL.
We are working on a VERY tight budget on this build. We don't have the cash some of these other team have & we have NO official sponsors.
So we are forced to fabricate this stuff. Jacob spent almost 4 decades working as a  Industrial Arts teacher in a public High School. He is use to working on a tight budget. As we all know public school administrator spend most of their time cutting money out of programs for the kids so they can spend it on stupid stuff..... Every dollar we save by making parts is another dollar we can spend on stuff like fuel , oil , spark plugs, gaskets & on getting our butts to Bonneville
The way I see it, how can you have much pride in a machine you purchased out of a catalog & just bolted together.

Jacob asked me to add these comments , Jacob is amazing when it come to fabrication but he has issues with his computer.

The black filter is great but we wanted to take advantage of the wire mesh. The mesh can cleaned and  checked for metal in the oil. A paper filter can restrict oil at first start up and high speeds. The adapter I fabricated has a bypass built in , I wanted to avoid restriction at high speed.

JIML had commented on our master cylinder issue... the front master is a great idea but we already had all new parts for rear style. We didnt see worn out clip grove in the old master cylinder untill we had decided to go with the rear style. Money is so tight we couldnt start over.

I agree also on the mesh filter.
my issue was over chrome plated filters.
