I am about to build a new SS header for my car. I would like it to play double duty and also work as a bike header. I am suggesting building a standard dimension turbo busa header except in the car application mounting a flanged pipe where the turbo mounts to the header and piping it around and up to facilitate better car mounting for the turbo. basically taking a header like this one and mounting a 3" u bend pipe to the flange at about 3' in length and mounting the turbo to it. I could remove the 'mid pipe' for running in the bike. My questions is that I am concerned that there will be a problem with 4-5" joining so close to the head then connecting to a much longer run. Most applications I have seen keep the tubes from head to collector are longer then the distance from the collector to turbo...... Am I over thinking this? ? ~JH

Corky Bell suggests that you might want to, at the very least elongate the holes, outboard the center making them longer the closer you get to the outside, maybe also consider cutting the plate to allow for "growth"

Make a dedicated header for the car, you have more room than a bike and can make a better flowing unit
Richard sells a nice one piece investment cast stainless flange with the head spigots inclusive some shed 10 pipe and bends and you can make a real nice header that will take lots of abuse without cracking and fit on the head again properly after removal

JNuts, is the turbo going to be high enough the drain oil back to the pan or are you planning an external pump.

THanks for the nice comments all..... JNuts, is the turbo going to be high enough the drain oil back to the pan or are you planning an external pump. RS, the turbo sits at head level. Its so tight in the bay I didnt have a bunch of options. So far mounting the turbo in this location has worked out pretty well. Heres a pic of the same header about 1/2 polished: Also a pic of the crazy new turbo going on it!!!! (Forced Performance HTA 7 blade billet GT3582r with Tial hot housing) Just came in TODAY!!!! ~JH

Hey Jnuts, you won't be able to see all the polishing under the header wrap... I like the header, makes me rethink my future I and J turbo plans
