Malcolm, what I try to say with FIM and FIA.....these are two different categories....Cars and Bikes......the SMI got only three wheels like the Spirit of America....strange to today that in 1964 the FIA accept the three-wheeler as Car.... Guinness accept everything as a record....how much count than a record....and is there not also a beer with this name....sorry when I call it a beer....... And at last the NAE is running under FIA.....
As both FIM and FIA are recognised World bodies I was wondering what you meant PP? If you want to risk the weather variable (and only having two or three wheels), then the two hours between the runs for preparations available under FIM would seem to be a good deal. I believe the Guinness Book recognises (or has recognised in past issues) Kitty O'Neils speed. I am not sure that putting a female driver in for what amounts to the vehicle development runs, then replacing her with a male driver for outright speed bids, is ever going to attract positive acclaim from the media or many racers. Some other International projects in recent times have used the idea. The Motivator project had internal management problems when Kitty drove closer to the then outright speed, which was not acceptable to some and writs started flying if I recall the events. Malcolm

About Kitty O'Neil (Hambleton) and this woman record.
The 512 mph average at Alvord Dry Lake in Oregon in 1976 was run under the rules of FIM....the SMI Motivator was a three wheeler....but also this record was never certified....there is an paper signed by the FIM that the average was set inside and under the rules of FIM....but the fee that the average could be certified as a record was never paid....Needham was interest to get the record with this car....and before he got the record he bent the car on a other dry lake....
So there is no woman record by Kitty....she is holding the WSLR (1977) record for woman and she is still 4th fastest person on water...only Campbell, Taylor and Wirby was ever faster.
And at last the NAE is running under FIA.....
I should know this - but what speed did Kitty clock on water (and which boat? Hustler?)

Kitty used the Lee Taylor Hustler...but the boat was now named Captain Crazy....275,1655 mph...Donald Campbell was only a friction faster with a 276,3 mph...his last WSLR.... by the way....sorry for wrong typing...I meant Ken Warby not Wirby in my earlier note...my finger was too fast.... I read with interest anything regarding the NAE project... being that I am a long time friend of Ed and Keith.... and a "foot-soldier" on the NAE team.... I was not let in on any of the reasons for a driver change ..... I do know that the team does not have lots of $$$ to pay the BLM and others for the use of a suitable venue.... and,to date, no big name sponsors have stepped up .... at one time, a well known energy drink company with ties to land speed racing had expressed interest but with a condtional donation of almost the price of a paint job, but they demanded to see the car painted their color first.... hmmm.... it wasn't going to work too well.... and, needless to say that, unless their loco mokos are gratis, the other brands of energy drinks get consumed instead.....
But the guys continue to knock on doors and pitch their message .....

Business are so bad news shy these days that most of them won't want to put their name on something that has the potential to get coverage for the wrong reasons.
If sponsorship is needed it's going to take some selling.
My 2 cents anyway with no experience. jon

How about working with www.truecar.com they have a group of hot looking racers. Looks like they are looking to get more exposure? How about that 45 foot paper airplane they flew in Arizona the other day. There is money for new and cool projects out there, go get it USA! Hot chicks are awsome!

Are you serious or is that just a blatant commercial? Please explain further.

I was just on Yahoo! it was one of the lead stories of the day. I don't even know what they do, but they have a team of 6 fine looking women competing in several classes of racing. Maybe they should add one more and a long fast car?
