She has the courage to go fast, TO WORK ON ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, and to race where she has to worry about slowing down in addition to going fast. She has a good future ahead of her.

There are three women mentioned so far in this thread.... to whom are you referring, WW?.... Personally, I would say all of them have good futures ahead of them, really!

It is Trillium Muir that plunges into the mysterious world of wires and moving electrons.

Racerfanwfo, I don't think that was in dispute here although the was some of a certain woman's self promotion seems to have gone, the allusion to it may have been there.... The "dispute" was about the fastest woman on two wheels..... so, from the autunm of 2008, how about this thread from this site- http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php?topic=4763.0

Even though I have met Leslie P. and like her, I think her self-promotion is a little excessive for this amateur sport. She may be able to "technically" claim to be the fastest woman on two wheels due to the FIM record, but she is not "actually" the fastest woman on two wheels. Trillium has shown great restraint in not disputing Leslie's claims more vehemently.
Despite that, Leslie's self-promotion has paid off very well for her. She gets sponsors and lots of money. I think that is what NAE was counting on when they announced she was going to be a driver, but perhaps the sponsors did not show up.

So, for any who are wondering how Trillium and Jody are doing.... the last time we seriously talked, they were having some financial hard times due to a protracted labor dispute (in the end, an 11 month long strike) at the VALE (formerly INCO) mine in Sudbury. Although Trill was working, their ongoing house project was going slowly but progressing and due to that they had to take some time off of land speed racing...
I am hoping to be back in Sudbury in a month or so and I will be taking them out for dinner again ....

so it takes a jet engine to only go 250 mph in the UK? And us yanks are going 312 with a normal engine. "Only" is not a description that should be used. Let's not forget that when it comes down to venues we are not comparing apples with apples. That 250 mph will be an average speed of two consecutive runs through the measure distance of 1/4 mile (0.25), which is positioned each side of the central point of a total runway length of 1.9 miles (a former bomber plane base). That's an acceleration distance of about 0.825 miles. Was the 312 mph set at Loring after acceleration of 1.5 miles and timed over 66 feet? Malcolm UK

Yes, 1.5 miles, timing traps at 132 feet. With luck and religious physical therapy, Bill will shoot for a milestone number in the mile later this year. Best of luck to the British team

Making the best of a "less than optimal" situation. You gotta hand it to her.
