Ransom T.....took a step back from the salad, but have been to the gym everyday i have been home. if i ever meet the guy who invented that torture device the tread mill i may just see how much STAMINA i have gained using it...LOL!

fireman, we are going to keep the bike in production / production pushrod so we are limited to what we can do. i have embraced the challenge and will keep going forward. so no chain and sprockets, and no visable performance mods.

however we can do a bit of non visable stuff. i am going to go as far as i can leaving the engine alone for the most part, just to see what i can get out of it.

for september we will drop the engine sprocket down and get a new primary chain. replace the clutch plates, spring and clutch bearing with a ceramic one while were in there, maybe ceramic bearings in the trans too. install jesel v-twin pushrods and lifters, behive valve springs and baisley roller rockers. play with different engine oils and do the math to get it geared correctly. have thought about 30deg domed pistons, ti valves and some cams, but that may have to wait til winter. we will see how user friendly the tunable ecm is.

this winter we start bike no.2 its a 1996 s1 chassis, but that's another story

hey folks. back in the garage this weekend, missed the last event and most likely the next, however i will be there in september. september is going to be a busy 1. 1st we got the AHDRA newmedia pa event, then the pa motorcycle extravaganza, then sept ECTA. we will be back with the buell to try to breach the 140mph mark, looking to knock on the 150mph door. then we lock ourselves in the garage all winter long [with the exception of hunting days] and see what we can wring out of this thing.

see you all then.

another rules question.

can i put a shift lite on my production / production pushrod bike. the rules do state that all performance mods need to be out of site. is a shift light considered a performance mod?

Running at Bonneville?  A shift light would probably get you tossed out of impound - but I'd clarify it with Van Butler before giving up on it.  Maybe you could modify an existing light to shie when you hit a setpoint.

If it didnt come on the bike, it isnt production. Therefore -  it is non-production.

safety mods are ok, performance mods must be out of site.

steering stabilizer, proper tires, belt guard, safety wire, kill switch...none of them came on the bike, but are considered safety mods and are mandatory. i would like to add the shift lite as a safety mod. however if i cant that's ok too.

i can still remember kieth pounding it into our heads...head up, eyes facing front at all times. and for good reason.

my bikes oem set up dictates that i have to look down to see the tach.

no big deal, still the most fun i have ever had in my life!

ill just have to get bike number 2 [modified] on the track for 2013

Seek Joe out? He may well be the person doing your tech. Trying to get a by on safety equipment other than what you listed is improbable at best. A few years ago, someone, running P/P, was not allowed stainless steel brake lines as a safety mod - you only have to have one brake if you're running over 175. He should have just gone with the black coated ones. Like Slim sugggested, as long as the shift light sensor is out of sight, whether or not the high beam indicator light serves that purpose doesn't matter as long as it looks like the off the showroom floor model. It took me a while to understand that in production, the right decal on the tank is far more important than a cored out pipe (with no cosmetic evidence), larger cams, ceramic bearings.... Best of luck and thanks for representing ECTA at other events.
