It might be a good idea to run the narrower tire and save yourself a lot of trouble.  Years ago I drag raced a Yamaha XS-1100.  There where two rear wheel sizes.  The regular XS-1100 used a larger diameter rim with a narrower tire.  The XS-100 Special used a smaller diameter rim with a wider tire.  I forget the sizes.  This was 33 years ago.

The fatter tire had a bigger footprint but the load on it was less concentrated.  Fewer pounds per square inch.  The narrower tire had a smaller footprint but the loads were more concentrated on it.  The fatter one gave an advantage during the launch, only.  It was no advantage after 50 or 100 feet or so.  I found out that tire quality and inflation pressure were big deals and meant more than size.

I doubt that at Mojave you will be burning out in first gear.   Tire width might not be a big help.
