I had a conversation with a retired BLM director who works with people and ranchers as a consultant to iron our issues they
have with the BLM. When I said something to the effect that I should just show up, run the car then deal with the fine, his
response was "I would not want to be you if you try to get away with that". He said the government would want to make an
example of me. We'll just have to keep trying to get someone to work with us. If we could only get a senator or congressman
to champion our cause, it might help.
We had scheduled to make some runs at the Alvord Desert during the first week of April but the BLM wildlife biologist in that
district stopped us because he fears we would scare away the Snowy Plover bird which begins its nesting season in April.
They won't let us come back to Alvord until end of September. Wish we had enough money to go to South Africa. As it is, we
can't afford to go to Tacoma.

Here is the latest on the Bloodhound stuff. It was written by a reporter from Atlanta. BH has rounded up 23 million and
needs a measily 11 million more.

$23 million with another $11 million to go?
Gee, makes us feel like cheapskates with The Blue Flame in 1970.
We didn't even have a tent to work under.
Maybe running pneumatic tires on the Bonneville Salt Flats makes more sense than solid wheels digging their own "tracks" in the mud for steering control.
Good luck to Andy and Rosco. Can't wait to watch the show. Hope I'm still around in 2015.

Just came back from 3 days at the Alvord Ranch on the edge of the Alvord Dry Lake. The lakebed is in beautiful condition and just waiting for our return. To bad the BLM is not allowing us to run there until fall.

Ed are you still doing testing and if you are when do you think that you will be ready to try for the record.

We went to the desert last October to test but the weather gods didn't look favorable upon us so we couldn't do what we wanted. We're
returning as soon as BLM lets us, probably late September or first two weeks of October. If all goes well, we'll go for the female landspeed
record (Guiness record only) then begin our plans for the record runs. Would be nice if we can do it this year. With limited funds we
have to make every test count for something. Sure wish we could get the attention of a large company as a title sponsor. We're trying
out a new female driver in June and if all goes well, maybe we will attract the right sponsor to take us the rest of the way. Car is built,
infrastructure is in place, need money, need the government to cooperate and mother nature to help us out!

I have a question ed is it not more important to go for the record that is held by THRUST SSC now and then worry about the female LAND SPEED RECORD later.

I got this one...
Not really, sponsorship is required to run for the Mach record... as one works toward that end picking up a little notoriety along the way will be good for the effort.
Unless you happen to have a couple of mil to help with the effort

Stainless is correct. We have very little if any funding so running for the absolute record is financially impossible at this
time. It will cost $35,480. for the permit to run on the 15 mile long Diamond Valley lakebed, another $10,000 for the
FIA and another $10,000. to get a certified course set up. Add to that about $20,000. to house the team for a couple weeks.

In the mean time, I have a permit to run at Alvord (only 10 miles) for $100. and the Alvord Ranch is putting us up for
free. We'll run for the womens record first to see if a revenue sponsor will bite.

The British have spent in the neighborhood of $1 million dollars to set up the track in So. Africa. Way out of our range
plus their government is cooperating with them rather than blocking them like ours is doing to us.

Basically , we're ready to run this year if we could get funding to help.........Ed

WAIT, is there a new female driver now, Jamie Combs? What happened to Valerie Thompson and I think it was Leslie Porterfield before that?

I don't know about Valerie, although she does have Eric Studer doing LOTS of press releases for her, but I do know that Leslie had a baby and that's kind of put her on a reduced racing presence.

As for putting a lady driver in the car to gain some press notoriety -- I understand what Ed and team are trying to do.  Best of luck and good wishes.  Someday soon you'll get it going right, Ed, and things will work out well.  At least -- I hope they do.
