Very nice, I'm impressed.

How about posting the above over on turboford?

Mike

thanks ....

You can post a link over there if you'd like. I'm not joining another forum for now.

You should be able to get the photobucket link from the clip if you just want to post that.

More progress to come in the next week....

Scales today:

We figure the weight of the car is about 250 lbs light with not having everything bolted on. So approx 3,700.

we are going to put 400 lbs in it to start keeping the drivers side 200 lbs lighter and having the weight approx 53/47 front/rear

its 52% front heavy as it sits now.  the race wheels and tires are off getting mounted and balanced

new hood scoop.  The mail box went bye bye:

going to have to do some work to get the air filter to mount up under the cowl, but should be able to pull it off.

going to run a 4" intake pipe along the intake plenum and have something like a blow-thru carb bonnet mounted to the turbo intake flange. the air filter will ride along the plenum up in the cowl hood.

Gear choice made: have a few set's up and down from this: this should get us in the "ball park".  a couple of shake down runs around 7,000 then we'll lean on it

well it's always something ....... what the hell happened to the wire loom ( relay pack) for the Motec ? Can't find it so one now has to be built    :x     :x    waiting for the schematic

Air intake didn't work out as planned.  5" 90* hose won't fit.  If the turbo was 1" to the left and the intake manifold 2" to the right all would be well.  but it's not ... at least not this year.

Our fab guy is going to build an air box a bit like this: 8x11. 5" on the turbo side and 4.5" going to the air filter up in the cowl

we'll adjust as we go.

it's always something....

Was looking at the mock-up this morning and figured out that the turbo system was missing something ..... the pipe running from the intercooler to the throttle body should have a BOV in it.   something else to do.

260 of the 400 we are adding:  a little bit of lead goes a long way

it's like Santa showed up today:

high octane good stuff  A-8D  118 octane. Hopefully we'll be burning some on Monday or Tuesday night on the chassis dyno

Today was one of those days were you actually got things accomplished but you feel like you just tread water:

Dry sump and radiator plumbed today.  We pulled the intake to relocate  the bungs so they will be out of the way for the 5" intake pipe and filter that will be installed.

Wire loom will be installed tomorrow.

Like so many others would love to be on the salt this week... a very bad deal for so many people

We will have time to figure out a few things before we hit the salt.

last week during out scramble to get together we learned a few things ...

^^^ this set-up with the 5" pipes cost us 80 hp on the chassis dyno over this set-up:

ran on a local dyno with the "soft" tune up and just played with fuel psi:

put 640 to the ground with 20 psi boost and 21* timing.  Now we have time to fine tune it and maybe add some boost and play with the timing. that muffler system is incredibly quite. we ran a 20' 5" section off the car exhaust, then split it into 2 4" pipes then into the muffler bank.

Anyone have any in-put on Data loggers ?

Edelbrock QwikData ?
http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/mc/qwikdata/

racepak ?
http://www.racepak.com/

pro's / cons ?

Temp: water, oil, air in, air out of intercooler

Psi: oil psi, boost psi

A/F

RPM

Wheel speed

EGT. I'm guessing if you have the option get all four exhaust readings not just the collector ?

It's been a while.

Making some refinements:

New manifold will allow space for air filter mounted to turbo. It has a bit more volume too

making some changes and hopefully be back on the chassis dyno early next year for some tuning

I just thought I would check in and see how you guys are doing.....the salt flats situation is kind of the big impediment right now for everyone, I guess...

The turbo engine sounds like a fast one!

Take care....

I'd like to know too!

I was standing with Rob this summer and a Lincoln pulled into the parking lot. It parked with a good profile view which caught my eye. I poked Rob and we talked about he aero of that body. I think one could do very well aerodynamically speaking with one of those.
