It's a wonder you didn't hear that clattering! Check the lifter & the lobe for damage.
So we're assuming the wet plug is dead cylinder fuel? :?
You might have to start running the valves during a meet until you know they're staying put.

It's a pity those heads in your "parts room" are only plastic

Not bringing the liner, just got the O/D's from B&J a couple of weeks ago. Going to help Steve with the big banana.

OK. It looks like I got away with it. Everything looks, feels and measures bichin.  :-D I'll rig the adjuster so it won't take off and just do what it feels like.  Wayno

Mark, there are no locknuts. I have considered that addition, though. When the parts store opens I'll have a look.  Wayno

The parts store had no locknuts so I made one on my mill (12" Harbor Freight Disk Sander).  Wayno

 Hi Wayno
I always use locktite on the lifter adjuster threads I find that works perfectly even in our extreme environment on these all out racing flatheads. Even with a set of lifters that's already been run in oil and still in the block I just hit the treads with brake cleaner and set a drop on the lifter body the locktite still holds well. For extremely loose adjusters the green stuff will keep them in adjustment.
For my flathead I check the valve adjustment after three good runs. That is if and when the speed gods allow three good runs in a row!  :-)

Yes Wayno I'm heading to Speed Week its time for me to get some salt on the race car tires and get my rookie runs in. My to do list is getting shorter each day but it seems there's still lots to do. Big project at the moment is to finish assembling the engine the internal parts from the engine I tested with this year are going into a fresh crack free 8BA block.Well its crack free until it runs at least.
The must bring list is rather large with a 2400 mile journey ahead of us I want to be sure I have enough stuff to keep running and not leave anything behind. There's a group of us heading out so my support team will be large enough to help deal with whatever. My crew chief is my son without his help this would not take place and my wife is also coming with her support she makes this all happen. My wife gave the car its name the Mistress   :-)
