I took a drive out to Land's End about an hour ago and thought I'd give you an update...sorta, kinda..   grin

As you all know, there hasn't been much moisture come through Utah this winter, we've had a LOT of high winds and dust storms.  The pristine white of the salt is buried under a layer of brown dust and there are an unbelievable number of sand drifts alongside the road to Land's End.  The only water I saw was in the several puddles just off the launch at Land's End.  Of course, there are the tell tell signs of idiots trying to show off and having to call Mr. Tow!   rolleyes  But then, we all look forward to that entertainment every year!

We had a storm (ha!) come through last night but it didn't slow down long enough to do anything but make the temperature drop.  I'm sure the weather pattern is going to change and we'll get the flooding that we need.

So, there ya go...this Bonneville update has been brought to you by....a confirmed salt addicted crazy person!!   cheers

No pumping, hey?  Dang -- I wish they'd get the hassles all settled and get to pumping at least the "replacement" amount of salt.

If in doubt, it probably IS a mistake.

Thanks, Lynda.

It's been a weird fall and winter everywhere.  I scraped frost off of the Midget at Maxton in October -

but we haven't seen but a couple of flakes of snow in Milwaukee this winter.  It hit 50 degrees yesterday and today.

That said, I'm going out tonight to make sure the snowblower is up to snuff.

I'm not complaining, but I hope the pattern between now and August straightens out.

Happy New Year, Lynda, and thanks again.

Lynda, You certainly know when to come through.

Just knowing that one of us went to Lands End makes everything "whole."

Thanks, Princess of the Salt.

I sent a note to Dallas Volk to ask his dad when pumping starts, it's usually around February I think.

Happy New year all. It's been hovering around the low 60's for the last couple of weeks Chris, I'm sure you got a little more than frost these days. Rock on grin

WOO HOO!!!!  There's water on the salt!!!!  Let the healing begin!!!!

Sounds kinda silly doesn't it?!  All excited about wet salt seems ...... well, wrong! Guess it's all in the timing of the wet!  The storms are supposed to last through Monday, so I'll try to go out to Land's End on Tuesday for a new update.

just so everyone knows the salt is pretty much dry until feb. and then the storms and wind come through and groom the flats, so don't panic just yet! Lived here 50 plus years and watched about all types of conditions. Plus don't forget we are the desert, not much water even in a good year. Since I work on the edge of the flats its a no brainer to keep an eye out for the conditions, and they look pretty good this year.
